What To Do Now?
So, my contest, 1st one I've done, is the 2nd week in April. I started dieting 1 1/2 weeks ago and I've dropped about 5-6 pounds. I started at a maintenance weight of 180 and planned to enter the lightweight division at 154. Yesterday I hooked up with my friend who competes and did a BF analysis, I'm currently at 174lbs at 8% BF, so in order to get to 154 at around 4%, I'll have to lose a lot of muscle. Now, I lose weight and fat pretty fast, I'm where I'm at now with a small reduction in carbs and calories and no cardio yet.......we're thinking of actually scrapping the diet and adding weight for the next 4 weeks, then dieting to the middleweight class instead...any opinions?

sounds like an idea...just have to see how your body reacts...BTW What federation are you doing your contest for, what day is it and where?

I know, just kinda scares me screwing around with it being only 11 weeks out I guess. I'm competing in the NABF, in April in MA

I'd suggest you forget about scale weight and focus on coming in as hard as you can regardless of weight. You may very well end up at 154 by the time you lose that bodyfat because a lot of the weight you lose near the end is water and glycogen. It's your first contest so it's a learning experience, but you're better off being ready, as far as low bodyfat, a few weeks before your contest, then having to scramble to lose bodyfat because you didn't lose it soon enough. If you really can lose fat that fast, I'd recommend losing it slower so you don't lose muscle while cutting.

Well, as far as weight class, I don't know yet as I said in my original post. I may do Middleweight and novice.
I've never competed before, so we'll see how it goes. Yeah, I posted some pics awhile back.

Thanks for the compliments, I was actually about 25 pounds less in those pics than I am now, and now I'm at 8%. So, I have that dilema of where to compete at.
