The Savage Review
From here on out, I'll keep all reviews in this thread.
Universal's Shock Therapy
Flavor: Wild Punch Kicker
Mixability: 10
No problem with mixing with this. No clumps, ever. Mixed exclusively in a shaker.
Taste: 7
Very strong at first, but I got used to it. The recommended 8-10 oz. of water seems to be too little. 16 oz. was better, but was difficult to consume in addition to a BCAA mix during workout. I ended up just using the recommended 8 oz. so that I could just down it. I'm not going to complain about the taste of a product as long as it works.
Effectiveness: 10
Excellent pre-workout boost. I was cautious about pre-workout energizers after feeling nothing from NO-Xplode, but this was a pleasant surprise. I am very resistant to the effects of caffeine and most other stims, but this worked incredibly well for me. I had focused energy, as opposed to jitters, that lasted for my entire workout (usually over 2 hours long).
Overall: 10
I won't complain how it tasted, although I would recommend the Grape flavor after trying a sample. It was very effective for me and will now be a staple for my workout routine.
My thanks to Universal for sending out samples. Very helpful to me to see how I respond to a product before I purchase it.

ON 100% Whey: Chocolate Mint
Taste: 8
I like. It smells very good and tastes good too. I don't have to choke it down, I can just drink it normally. No real complaints other than the flavor is kind of faint.
Mixability: 10
No clumps whatsoever. I use a blender when mixing and don't have to mix very long for it mix completely. Not much foam on top either.
Consistency: 10
Has the same consistency as a milk shake, but not too thick. Very easy to drink. Not runny at all. I exclusively use 1% or 2% milk. I haven't tried in water as of yet.
Final Thoughts
Excellent product. Very good price and high quality. No problems with it at all.

That's no good. Maybe if you took half a dose it would be better. Then again, a high heart rate isn't something to take lightly.

ON 100% Whey: Rocky Road
Taste: 9
Very good. Tastes like a very rich chocolate, with a touch of marshmellow. No bad aftertaste or anything of that nature.
Mixability: 10
No clumps at all. I've used a blender exclusively and have had no problems.
Consistency: 10
Very smooth. Not too runny, and not too thick. I've used both 1% and 2% milk to mix with and neither have come out bad.
Final Thoughts:
Impressive! I got 2 (5) lb'ers of ON 100% Whey and had been using them every day. I wanted to try something new, so after my workouts, I've mixed a scoop of the Rocky Road with the Chocolate Mint and it tastes great! Very refreshing. Excellent product, will be a repeat customer.

Ah! If this was like 3 weeks ago I could, but I ran out of dextrose and maltose and haven't picked up more yet. I can see how it tastes in water for you though if you're still interested.

Ah, thanks but you don't have to go through the trouble. Plus, malto+dex changes the flavor drastically IMO.
Have you tried RR in a shaker yet?

Agreed that it does change the flavor, I've just been to lazy recently to get some more.
I'll try it in a shaker tomorrow and post my results.

Lookin forward to em. It's time for me to order some more whey and I was going to get DE Butter Toffee or Orange, but lately I realized DE doesn't dissolve 100% in my shaker, but ON did, everytime.

Have you reviewed those DE flavors? I might pick up some of that soon, just to mix it up. I was originally thinking of getting ON's Cookies & Cream but have decided against it after reading some bad reviews.

I've read reviews on TE & Orange, and the majority were good reviews.
I went through 15lbs of ON's C&C... loved that stuff... but you know as well as I do that taste is subjective. Hope that helped.

Well now you're making me reconsider. It's a tough choice with some of the lighter flavors (not chocolate based) because they can taste really bad some times. I might pick some up, I think it'll be a last minute decision.
I mixed the ON RR with a shaker this morning and had no clumps at all. That was even with ice cold water, so that makes it that much more impressive. The taste was a little dull in water, but still not bad at all.

ON 100% Whey: Tropical Punch
Taste: 1
Seriously, one of the worst mistakes that I've made regarding protein flavors. This stuff is rank! The taste isn't anything like tropical punch, it's just nasty. Not sure exactly how to describe it better. I have 5 lbs of it, so I'm going to have to experiment with including fruit in it to improve the taste.
Mixability: 6
Clumps left, and a good portion didn't break up in the shaker, even with more than the normal amount of liquid.
Consistency: 7
Besides the clumps, it wasn't bad, just like the other ON flavors. A good medium, not too runny or thick.
Final Thoughts
This was an impulse purchase, and I am definitely regretting it. Very bad decision on my part. Avoid this flavor at all costs!

Doh, I hate that when you try a flavor and realize the rest of them are going to get harder by the shake Or maybe you'll learn to deal with them like I did with ON's strawberry. Good luck with that

Nice, thanks for the RR feedback.
And damn that sucks about the tropical punch, lol.

Yeah, I hear you on that one. It's been a while since I've made such a bad decision on protein flavors. Any recommendations on to make the taste less horrid?

I thought the fruit punch was horrible.
I added some hawaiian punch lite once and some gatorade and still tasted like crap. It was cheap, so I pitched it.

Yeah, I'm trying stuff to make it better too. So far, adding a banana hasn't helped. I'm thinking about just using as little liquid as possible, just so that it mixes up completely, then just downing it. If only they would have had more than 3 flavors of DE when I was buying!

ON 100% Whey: Cookies & Cream
Taste - 10
I'm loving this! I was cautious at first because this flavor has gotten many bad reviews, but I like it! It reminds me of a lighter version of Muscle Milk. I usually add in a banana and it tastes great.
Mixability: 10
No issues with mixability here. Dissolved completely, not a single clump.
Consistency: 9
As with most other ON flavors, no problems here, a nice consistency. Excellent!
Final Thoughts
I purchased this even though I wasn't sure, and have been pleasantly surprised. Thanks to BS for recommending it! It's my favorite flavor, I like it more than Rocky Road and Chocolate Mint!

Ah! I didn't notice the 6! I usually just copy the formats from previous reviews, but I forgot to adjust the ratings on that one. I meant to give it a 10, but some reason I can't edit it now.
Let me know how you like the Choc Mint, I'll be interested to see your opinion.

I think after 24 hours you can't edit/delete your post. Perhaps PM a mod to help you out?
And i'll definately let you know how the DE Choc Mint tastes.

I was wondering why I couldn't edit it. I sent a pm, so hopefully that'll get taken care of.
I look forward to the review. I want to give some DE flavors a try!

I went through 15lbs of Cafe Mocha... I had the following combos:
In a blender:
Water + Cafe Mocha = tastes like ice coffee
2% Milk + Cafe Mocha = tastes like caramel coffee
Whole Milk + Cafe Mocha = tastes like caramel coffee
In a shaker:
Water + Cafe Mocha + Dextrose = tastes like very sweet ice coffee
Water + Cafe Mocha + Dextrose + Malto = tastes LESS sweet than with just dextrose, but still like ice coffee.
In the blender I used ~13oz liquid & 2 scoops whey.
In the shaker I used ~20oz liquid & 2 scoops whey & 1 scoop dextrose and/or 1 scoop malto.

maybe your tastes lean more towards the creamier bases than fruity ones as mine tend to. as you saw in my thread, berry was clearly the wrong way for me to go. have you tried punch with water or milk? all i know is im never going to pay money for a tub of any fruity whey without sampling first.
totally agree with you on cookies and cream though. really liked it despite the bad feedback it gets. i gotta say though, iv replaced it with DE toffee and never looked back. if yoiu ever get a chance to put up a comparison of DE vs ON similar flavors i would like to hear it. always on the look out for comparisons between the two.

Nice! I like the comparisons! I was looking for Cafe Mocha when I went to Vitamin Shoppe, because they had a sale, but they only carry 3 flavors, and that wasn't one of them. I want to give that flavor and a few others a try. I do have quite a bit of ON right now though, so I'm going to have to wait. Caramel Coffee would be awesome!

Agreed, I do like the creamier based flavors rather than fruit based. I think it's just from previous bad experiences with IsoPure and other bad fruit flavors. For that reason, I always avoid Strawberry, Vanilla, etc. I haven't tried the Tropical Punch with water yet, I assumed milk would be the most likely to make it taste good. I'll give water a shot later today and post what I find. I'm hoping for an improvement, but am not very optimistic.
I'm surprised that so many people don't like the Cookies & Cream flavor, I love it! DE Toffee is another flavor that I want to try, but I have over 15 lbs of ON flavors right now, so it'll be a little while. The DE toffee and Cafe Mocha are on the top of my list, so as soon as I'm ready to get more, I'll look for those flavors.
