    Hip Flexors and Squatting

Im getting back into lifting. (tore my calf in may and didnt work anything out)
While stretching and doing some unweighted squats on saturday, someone told me i probably bend forward too much because of tight hip flexors.

has anyone experienced something similar? or can anyone validate this? also, how thoroughly should one stretch before lifting?

    thanks.

It's possible. Especially right in the hole as your hip flexors want to shoot up. This is a good thing though. What you need to work on is lower back and ab strength to keep your upper body upright, and take advantage of tighter hip flexors.

There are a lot of opinions on stretching. Personally, unless I have a specific injury, I do no static stretching prior to lifting.
