Buck up, trooper... I flunked out of high school with a 2.1 GPA, got a GED in the Navy, and 15 years later graduated cum laude from Columbia University (entered at age 30, right where you are now). If you don't quit you'll always win in the end, right?
BTW, that episode with the girl is PRICELESS! LOL... must have been a great moment for ya

Yes, you will...
As the reality is our world is great but ****ed up at the same time so thinner, better looking people get more respect. It's just a matter of time...
Sorry if this is a bit harsh, but I would have never had the stuff that happened to me happen when I was 130kg...

I definitely got a lot more female attention since I lost 25lbs at college. At work I got girls constantly touching my arms and back as they walk by or talk to me. They also seem much more friendly than they used to lol! It's great I got more self respect and more respect from everybody. It was cool coming home and having everybody sayin "wow, you've gotten in shape!" Losing that weight made me realize that I could accomplish anything with enough hard work which played a huge part in my decision to join the Marines. Losing weight is worth every bit of pain you put into it.

well, not much after I lost weight, I became just another skinny guy...however after I put some LBM, things changed bigtime...I started to get tons of attention...that created some problems with my gf. Luckly, she got used it...

Oh for sure, man. I'm still kind of floating on cloud nine. Of course I would never take advantage of that situation because 1) I'm married and 2) I think I'd really feel like a dirty old man if I did not to mentino 3) It's illegal and I'd go to jail.
But still, it felt great, awesome motivation.

my genitals aren't bigger, thank god...
1) I get a few more stares, yes.. (the more the merrier!!)
2) Actually my genitals haven't changed size.. lol... ; )~
3) YES ..Negativity abounds.. but it's usually only from very insecure people who feel that your strengths in life equal their weaknesses.... My mother criticizes my diet, my husband was jealous of the time I spent at the gym...(so I got rid of him) LOL...You always have time..

Lost 100lbs plus gain muscle
sitting in a bar and my wife walked up to me rubbed my arms and said your arms are getting bigger you look great, well i could have passed out, she also had that look in the eyes which was saying shall we leave. So we left.
There are some good moments in your life this was one of them,
Yes loosing weight and gaining muscle works.

There are DEFINITELY some serious body image issues, and I'm certain I can't be the only one on the squad with an eating disorder history. On the other hand, I base, so no one really has a right to care how much I weigh (nor am I the largest girl). We're also not your ordinary D1 cheerleaders: we're the only varsity team on campus that can't recruit, the school doesn't give athletic scholarships, and in the Ivy League, people (thankfully) tend to care far more about academics than anything else.
I get more **** about the fact that I'm dating one of the guys on the team (who has won the school bodybuilding contest before- we recruit big guys at the gym hehe) than about my weight, by FAR. So yea, they're catty, but it's not always about what you think.
p.s. the guys have a hand in it too: one of the captains frequently likes to tell his flyer "don't get too fat over the summer!!"
She's got a body I'd die for. Tiny, tiny waist, lots of muscle, perfect flexibility, and can't be over 15% body fat.Last edited by frolik; 07-11-2007 at 11:07 AM.

Ha yeah I try not to stare, but I like to work on my confidence, so every time I walk past a hottie, I smile and say hi. Sometimes they ignore me, but most of the time, surprisingly, they smile and say hi back, and we both keep walking. It's fun.
But I don't do it around my wife. :/

bump for amazing inspiration. pity it was decided that this thread shouldn't be stickied. i think inspiration of any kind -- even if it isn't "good" inspiration -- that helps someone achieve physical fitness should be made more accessible to everyone. people will no doubt learn the correct reasons eventually, even if they didn't start out with them in mind. just my $.02.

Ive been smiled at by plenty of girls since I lost weight but I can't tell wether there smiling at me because they think something about my apperence is funny or wether they think I look good or just trying to be friendly but it is happening more frequently now.
