why my back/lats hurt doing front squatS?

i have been doing front squats for 2 months, doing crossed arm grip alternating with olympic clean grip.

however, for the past 3 sessions when i frontsquatted, i adopted a arms straight out grip.. which means i look like -- arm, elbow, forearm all in one straight line. direction points forwards and slightly towards the ceiling.
(sorry for not having a picture here)

this is quite a good grip, because i have rather small deltoids. by doing this, the barbell will not roll off my delts and collarbone.

HOWEVER, since i started using this grip, my lats/upper back area gets sore. n i failed on my first rep of my heaviest working set because of fatigue in my lats/upper back area.
i do not know wat muscle it is, and definitely have no idea why this happens. can anyone shed some light on this abnormality?

dont worry about it, front squats are a compound movement so other muscles are bound to get involved. assuming you are using correct form, the back muscles with be contracting isometrically to stabalise your body and keep you in good posture/correct spinal alignment.

if your experiencing muscle soreness, the body will adapt and grow accordingly. but if you are experiencing joint pain or lower back pain, ect make sure your form is in check. listen to your body.
