    NOW Dextrose - post workout

    Im reading up on this and its suppose to be the best thing for insulin spike. It has 227 servings at 4g of carbs. I want to take in 100 carbs that means the 2lb bag only lasts about 9 times. Whats the point of this if this is so expensive? I dont understand this, what do u mix this sugar in water and just drink it? How is someone measuring 1.25 tsp accurately

    You might be able to find corn sugar (dex) at a local grocer. I think a 2lb bag costs approx $3.

    You can buy Smarties candy (pretty much pure dex) and each roll is about 4g (or 6g, I can't remember) of carbs.

    lol eat smarties candy post workout really?? Doesnt smarties have other crap in it thats bad for you or bad for your teeth lol. Ya bb sells dex for $3 around. How many times do I get out of it if I want to do 100g carbs?

    If you want 100g of carbs PWO, what alot of people and you could do is something like 50g dex 50g oats and that would still add up to 100g carbs PWO. Oats are usually considered good both PRE and PWO carbs.

    No they don't, they are more like 30 calories per roll. Make sure you are looking at the right type of Smarties: http://www.smarties.com/

    SweetTarts work as well, as do Pixie Sticks. These add up in cost fast and you would have been better off just buying the dextrose though.

    You can also do a 50/50 dextrose/maltodextrin mix, and maltodextrin is available in larger quantities than 2 lbs from this site.

    50g protein and 50g dextrose will create the same insulin spike as just 100g dextrose. 100g dextrose way too much sugar.

    50g of dex is a lot of sugar. Yeah, I know some guys take 60g, but unless you're a really big guy, you don't need 50g along with 2 scoops of whey.

    0.4g/kg of bodyweight of Protein
    0.8g/kg of bodyweight of Carb

    e.g. I am 180lbs and get 32g protein and 64g carbs pwo. I get that with 1 scoop WPC and 50g of dextrose/malto blend with 1c milk.

    Berardi's recommendation, right? I follow the same advice. I'm also 180lbs and take 1.5 scoops of ON whey (~36g protein) and about 1.25 ON scoopers of dextrose (~65g carbs).

    By the way, 100g of dex is probably a bit overboard. Yes, you do need a lot of carbs at the outset to "flip on the anabolic switch" postworkout, but 100g is too much...

    My pwo shake is 1 1/2 scoops ON WHEY,useing the ON Scooper, 1/2 Scoop Dex 1/2 Scoop Malto (aka carbo gain) I made thread about this in past and most everyone agreed with that combo as way to go...

    That's almost exactly the same method I use, except I use 2 scoops of ON whey with the half and half scoop of dex/malto. I'm around 207 lbs btw. I also drink half of the shake right after and wait about an hour to finish the other half. No rhyme or reason, that's just the way I've done it.

    Actually, I don't think either one comes with a scooper. I just use the ones that came out of the ON whey tub when I'm done with protein powder.

    1 ON SCOOPER OF DEX IS 42 OR 44G, 2 scoops ON 1 1/2 Scoops ON either way job gets done....I have big protein carb meal 45 min after my pwo shake so I keep my protein minimal from Supplements....I made a real good thread 3-4 months ago about Dex check it out if you got time..answer all your questions.
