Pita Bread vs. Whole Wheat bread?

According to several GI databses online, pita bread (even white pita bread) has a substantially lower GI than regular whole wheat bread. I'm talking about 55 rather than 72 or so on average. Here's one such databse: http://www.wellnessgalaxy.com/glycemic.htm
Can this be right? Is white pita bread really that much better? I ask because I have both available, and I'd like to know which is the better choice.
