Question Understanding Body Fat %

According to a Biotest I just had done, Body Fat % is the Fat Mass divided by the total body weight. The object is to reduce Fat Mass. However, the Lean Mass is made up of Protein Mass, Mineral Mass and Total Body water. The Total Body Water is by far my largest piece. I know we want to keep muscle while we diet. I assume that is tied to protein mass. How does Body Water fit in. Is that something to be reduced also? I question this because my target weight seems real high to me. Thanks for the help.

Your total body weight is about 70-80% water. Your muscle also contains 90% water. By losing water you're reducing your weight and your overall muscle size, but your body fat amount stays the same.

While you're working on lowering your body fat you will want to increase your water intake, there are countless of health benefits I am not going to go into.

The only time you will want to get rid of water weight is when you're preparing for a contest and need to make the weight class specification.
