Hey guys, I was wondering what your thoughts are on taking a week off from the gym every so often. My last week off was in Feb and I haven't missed a workout since. Do any of you guys take time off? Do you find it benefical?
Thanks,
Jimmy

Time off from gym
You have to put yourself first or people will put you second.

You got to listen to your body... for example if u feel burned out, tired, and not seeing results for a while, that means change things up... first off takea week or 2 weeks off, this is very good for the body... mentaly no, but other wise yes. think for a moment.. You have been beating ur muscle all year.... it needs to repair or take a break.. like school like work.... need a day off or vacation .... so every 8 weeks take a week off or whenever u feel like burned out take a week off...

Yes, a week off can be beneficial if you have lost that motivation and feel like you are just "going through the motions" a week may bring back that intensity. Once a year I take 4 weeks off and occassionaly take 1 - 2 weeks off. You wont lose all your muscle mass and you will probably be stronger when you come back to the gym.

I take a week off every 3 - 4 months and I've never had a problem getting started again ? You should normally just start a little bit lighter when you "return" but I normally just reduce my bench press by a few pounds but I use my normal poundages for all my other excercises because I normally feel really energised after having some time off ?

Take at least 2 weeks off every 6 months. During those 2 weeks do NOT go near a gym and stop all supplements except protein shakes IMO. You'll come back mentally refreshed, your body will love it too. If you're trying to bulk up you might even gain a few pounds? When you get back into the gym take the first week to fart around and then kick up the intensity each week until you reach another plateau and need another break. It works wonders!!!

Taking time off is very important!
You allow the muscles to heal . You will lose a little strength but that will come back ; in fact you will gain more size and strength after the strength returns.
2 weeks here and there for a total of four weeks a year is what I do. You should figure out what is best for you.
