    Overtraining on shoulders

I have a shoulder workout long after the chest workout(3 days after), because i know the front delt atleast are worked in the chest press exercises.

So on my shoulder day i have :

3 sets of military press or dumbbell shoulder presses ( i change it from 2 - 3 months from one to another).

3 sets of single dumbbell upright rows

    3 sets of lateral raises

    3 sets of front raises

3 sets of rear delt flyes

    is this overtraining the shoulders?

I don't think you will get any harm on your shoulders yet you will maybe neglect the other muscle groups.

    Looks fine.

However, you need to understand that overtraining doesn't occur in a single muscle group. It's a condition your whole body go through when it fails to meet sufficient recovery You'll cease making progress, and can even begin to lose strength and fitness. Recovery is dependent on many factors, such as volume, intensity, proper eat/sleep and other factors that vary individually. Only way to know is to experiment and monitor your results.

If you're struggling to maintain intensity throughout all those shoulder exercises you could drop the front raises (your anterior deltoid should get enough stimulation from the other movements + your work on chest day.)

Looks like a regular shoulder workout.... I will never understand the obsession with this mythical overtraining boogeyman thing. Ive never experienced it, i dont know anyone who has.

Chances are if you have to post your workout on a forum and ask if your overtraining, your not.

It might be for me, but I'm not you.

The best way to determine the value of a routine is to run it for 3-4 months and log your results. If you find you can make steady progress on the weight/reps you're able to lift with good form, then your training volume/frequency (as well as your rest and nutrition) are adequate.
    No brain, no gain.

"The fitness and nutrition world is a breeding ground for obsessive-compulsive behavior. The irony is that many of the things people worry about have no impact on results either way, and therefore aren't worth an ounce of concern."--Alan Aragon

I have to agree. I feel like I could lift for hours without overtraining. & I also never heard of anyone who has done it. But hey I guess we're all different, right?
