a little motivator about selling yourself short
I am posting this as a motivator/wakeup for some guys in here. All the time I see posts complaining about...genetics, weakness, lack of results, can't eat enough, girls don't like me, etc. Why are so many young bodybuilders selling themselves short these days. I've never seen such weakness in bodybuilding, a sport focused on strength. You guys talk about off days in the gym, man there are no off days! If you are sick stay home but if you're not you better be in the gym doing more reps than before or using more weight than before, off days only exist in your mind. You can't gain mass and strength if you walk in a gym and already doubt your abilities...just ain't gonna happen. For every time you worry about your weaknesses the other guy will forge his into strengths and be one step ahead of you. So stop selling yourselves short...

more motivation about whining and stuff.
got this off a site a while ago i forget .
"As much as I love this California there is one thing I immediately noticed, people whine, make every possible excuse and bitch a lot. While it may not be strictly a California issue, it sure is a lot more prevalent here. If someone does not get a job or promotion, it is because they are African/Asian/Hispanic/White. Not because they had a poor interview or lacked experience. If someone is out of shape or… a little plump, it is because of genetics or because of the evil fast food industry. Not because of their total lack of any physical movement and inhalation of junk/fast/fating food. If you fail a test it because the professor hates you and was out to get you, it had nothing to do with you trying to cram 4 chapters of organic chemistry the night before. I think you all get my point. So why all the excuses?
Simple. People do not want to be held accountable for their failures, rather they need a scapegoat, because heaven forbid, they are at fault. Of course if anything goes right, people are quick to praise them self, however it is not a double standard as people will use everything and anything to place the blame on.
Another personal gripe I have is how everyone takes everything for granted. "So why are you in such a bad mood," I ask flustered friend of mine. "I didn't get a chance to eat anything." I want to slap him right there. Just because he did not get his daily Starbucks frappuccino and low-carb burger, he has a perfectly valid excuse for acting like an asshat to everyone. Obviously I am blind to see that he has it much worse then the starving kids in third-world countries how dare those kids and their infomercials when here at home my friend didn't get his meal.
So where exactly am I going with this article. Simply put, to grow a ****ing pair and sac up. Don't have time to workout? I am taking 17 units this quarter, have two jobs, an eight hour internship, volunteer for a clinic on Saturday mornings and still make time to get drunk with my frat and make it to the gym. Sure it means cutting a few hours off the television and waking up a little early. "I am too skinny/fat, and so are my parents there is no point in working out." ****ING BULL ****. If you are happy the way your body is then kudos to you, but do not pull the genetics excuse on me. All around the world people are doing extraordinary feats, look at Lance Armstrong, I personally am not a Tour De France fan whatsoever but the guy is ****ing awesome. Look at all that he has accomplished while overcoming countless obstacles. So what separates the likes of Lance and others who are able rise among the ranks. NOTHING, ABSOLUTLEY NOTHING. We all have the potential to do TREMENDOUS things in our lifetime. Some of you will be world class athletes, others lawyers, doctors any ****ing thing you can imagine. Others will live with your parents and perhaps bag groceries and one day move on up to fetching the carts in the parking lot. You are your biggest fan and critic, which means you, can push your self as far as you want and hold you back. Some of us are able to look past our weaknesses and push through to reach our goals, others will keep passing the blame and hope for hand me downs. I hope each and every one of you got something out of my random rant. To finish, part of a famous/motivational speech I have on my wall:"
"Winning is not a sometime thing, it's an all-the-time thing. You don't win once in a while, you don't do things right once in a while, you do them right all the time. Winning is a habit. Unfortunately so is losing."
- Vince Lombardi
I hope you all make the right habits.

Off days techincally do exist, I workout 3 days a week so obviously I have days off from the gym, but not from eating right.

I usually like your posts, but saying there's no off days is just ridiculous, your body needs a break every now and then everything else in that post is true.

Man you need to look at the big picture here. Sure everybody is going to need some down time to recover, but when you see people posting in their logs...lets say 275x8 for incline bench...and then the next week they do 245x6 because they had an "off day." Man thats a crock of ****. Take my post for what its it worth...the point is that every time you step foot inside a gym you should be putting up more weight or do more reps for a certain exercise. Now I know that weights are finite and you are never going to rep 1000 pounds on the bench press for 12 reps, but there is just no such thing as a "plateau" for a teenager. Thats another crock of ****...

I can agree with that, i just thought by off days you meant days off, but there is such a thing as off days if ur extra tired, but that doesnt mean you shouldnt give it your best in the gym, and it definitely doesnt mean you should be any weaker, you just have to fight harder through it.

is a metaphor for your attitude? I would hate to dig really deep into it, but when i first read it, thats what I gather

Yeah I'm not trying to make blanket statements like everytime you step foot in the gym you should be upping your poundages by 20 pounds. That would be ridiculous. Just an extra rep or even 2 and a half extra pounds is a sucess. Most times I've put weight on the bar that I thought I couldn't move and I usually move it. I just think believing in yourself makes all the difference thats all. So many times I see people fail because they don't believe, not because of a bad diet or bad program or bad genetics.

bro, not every session i progress in weights or reps, but over time i definetely progress... Its not always possible to do another rep when your back is absolutely destroyed... Nevertheless I know the point you are trying to get across and I agree. Too many people complain and dont think they can do something. For some of them, they learn to go on, for others they just stay at their comfort level. I for one, am ready to go on to the next level.

i agree with both statements.
people progress over time and
people are too ****ing lazy.
i remember reading an animalpak article on back. bulldog said if you aint doing 220 pounds for barbell rows then you aint ****...this burnt me because i was nowhere near that but now OVER time i am now rowing 238 pounds for 6 reps so damn i have progressed **** loads.
and to the lazy part, some people will give up before lifting the weight they will see it on the rack/floor and just go home instead. and think they being sensible bull**** its called laziness.
regarding rows again on 5th rep i puke but swallow it down again then rep out again. thats taking it to the point of where your body has had enough but you push on.
