Workout Survey
Hey guys. I'd just like to know how you incorporate cardio into your program. What kind, when, for how long, etc.
Myself
4-5 Days per week: 10-40min of swimming, running, or biking.
Also, martial arts classes, heavy bag workouts, and some sprinting drills.
This thread isn't for debating what is best, etc. I just want to get an idea of what everyone is doing.

HIIT is best for combat sports. No fight is 30 minutes of light cardio, nor a 30 second sprint, but a mix of both.

I did some cardio once....this dude had a dog and the leash broke...I guess technically it was "HIIT" cuz it was a short sprint until I jumped over a fence

Very carefully. No, Seriously. I've read so many BB books And been on so many different diets and routines that I Know cardio is a necasssary part of BB.
I do it in the mornings for 40min to 1 hour. Or in the evening with My routine if I don't make it in the morning. Or I swtitch and do My routine in the morning and My cardio in the evening.
However..Since Your 16yo I will have to say "do not try this at home" I follow a very strict pro diet and excersise program. I eat many calories, I drink 2 gallons plus of water per day.
Geez, I could go on and on with this warning.

does HIIT work for burning fat. I understand that you should do no more than 20 mins per session maybe 3 x a week. Is this the only cardio u do or do u need to do other stuff whilst doing HIIT?

Cardio = 45 min./session 3X a week. I alternate between a Precor Elliptical, a Life Fitness Elliptical, a Precor treadmill, skipping rope and my Schwinn Air Dyne. I formerly worked my heavy bag, but since I moved, I haven't found a good place for it yet. I will probably get a stand/speed bag combo and once I get that set-up, I will also have that as an option.
Occassionally, I will sit in on an Aerobics or Cycling class, but rarely. I also used to use the Rolling Staircase before I switched gyms...

As much as I dont think cardio should be perfromed when bulking. I think if you do it then it should be on the same day as your w/o.

Training for kick boxing is done in 30second to 1min "srpint" type exercies with the rest time being pushups or squats. eg, 1 min of doubles on the rope, then 20 pushups for the "rest" then 1min doubles and so on or Flat out kicking on the bag for 1min then 30 squats for your rest. That is for ring prep, after doing that **** for 2-3 hours a night for around 3 months you peak just before you enter the ring...then after your fight you need to rest extensivly becuase your CNS is shot to hell.
Training for a ring fighting sport is the toughest training out there, its FKN brutal(unless you have a slacktrainer then you just get fkn raped in the ring lol).

I work HIIT in almost every of my cardio sessions, excluding swimming and heavy bag work.
