If you get the egg white cartons, is it okay to drink it? Nutritionally it's the same to drink a cup of egg whites as to fry it and eat it, no? It saves a lot of time and doesn't require cleaning any dishes. Can you get salmonella or anything?

Salmonella comes from the egg shell not from the egg itself.

Why can't you just eat them? You should eat the yolk as well by the way. Its rich in Omega-3's and will help your burn fat.

Bump
Tried this today, drinking a cup of egg whites. Gross, I know, but nutritionally it's the same? As stupid as that sounds, it didn't feel filling at all. It feels a LOT more filling when I fry them.

I did, I couldn't find anything about drinking them. At least nothing that answered my question conclusively.

Your body can't absorb them unless you heat them up. You only absorb a fraction of the protein from it. Am i right here in saying this?

it's safe to eat the raw egg whites. salmonella is very rare actually and if you have a good immune system then you dont really have to worry. i drink eggs once in a while. never bothered me, but i have a pretty strong immune system. protein makes your immune system stronger.

I saw Hulk Hogan drink them on his TV show...... so it must be ok. His son was being a puss and wouldn't take it though.

I don't recommand eating raw whites
Biotin is an essential micronutrient for all mammals and is a member of the B complex group of vitamins. Biotin was discovered in nutritional experiments that revealed a factor in many foodstuffs that was capable of curing the scaly dermatitis, hair loss, and neurologic signs induced in rats fed dried egg whites.
Avidin is a glycoprotein found in egg whites and binds biotin very specifically and tightly. From an evolutionary standpoint, avidin probably serves as a antibacterial in egg whites because it is resistant to a broad range of bacterial proteases in both the free and biotin-bound forms.
Because it is resistant to digestive enzymes from the pancreas dietary avidin binds to dietary biotin and prevents its absorption. The normal bacteria of the large intestine synthesize biotin. Cooking changes avidin and makes it susceptible to digestion and unable to interfere with the intestinal absorption of biotin. There is a building. Inside this building there is a level where no elevator can go and no stair can reach. This level is filled with doors. These doors lead to many places. Hidden places. But one door is special. As most ppl on these forums but egg whites in bulk ,they do not consider cooking them as their consuming so much. However take the time to cook your eggs and you'l be right
Protein Absorption & Eggs
Some older athletic diets use to propose eating just raw eggs. This is a foolish attempt at taking in additional protein. Eating raw eggs (or raw egg whites) will only result in about 50% absorption of the available protein. That means that if you eat enough raw eggs to give you 40 grams of protein, your body will only absorb 20 grams.
Eating just raw egg whites results in the same (or worse). Egg whites have a huge amount of a substance called "avidin," which loves biotin. As a matter of fact, once the avidin-biotin forms a bond, the body can't break it apart. So you will develop a partial or full Biotin Deficiency Syndrome. Cooking your eggs (or egg whites) will quickly denature the protein avidin and will allow you to absorb 98% of the protein. In short, always cook your eggs.

No matter what the reasoning are or anything, I would cook them... Just tastes better... I understand time and all that, but it doesnt take that long... If you are going to eat and bulk up and all that, why not at least enjoy the food your eating??? Cook that shiot and put a little salt on it, mmmm.... Its what I eat every morning for I workout!
Get big....

I know I'm late with this... But for anyone else wondering, it is best to cook/heat the egg whites. You can absorb as much nutrients as possible that way. I always have a rule in my mind (and it's not necessarily true), 'The hotter the egg, the better it is nutrient-wise'.

they aren't raw
The egg whites in those containers, like "all whites" are not raw... they have been heated during the pasteurization process. So the question is, does that process change the avidin and make it susceptible to digestion and thus unable to interfere with the intestinal absorption of biotin the way cooking it does?

I believe the OP was asking about dinosaur eggs, not chicken eggs. I base this on the age of this thread.

We have the enzymes and acids to process raw egg whites
If every meal consisted of cups of raw egg whites than maybe you could get a deficiency.
Who ever said you can't absorb most of the egg white doesn't understand what happens in the body. The same thing that happens on a skilit that denatures the egg will actually also happen in your body won't get as hot but how else could you absorb raw meets and raw egg if you don't have the enzymes and acids to help you denature the proteins.
You have to have the systems in place to process foods don't you?
How ever cooking the egg whites saves your body steps and allows you to process the egg whites sooner.
