Miranda I'm suprised you didn't say more??
Keep lifting!!! The pants will get tighter (be aware)...but you'll find yourself gaining some nice muscle and looking more "hard"! Besides squats I've also found Romanian Dead Lifts or Stiff Leg Deadlifts are my favorite too to harden up the glutes and hamstrings!!

i believe that for my body that cardio only burned my muscle and kept me from gaining....as for lifting burning fat on my legs...most likely at this point, i really don't know....i do know that they are taking a better shape and feeling firmer and it seems to be tightening up....also you cannot spot reduce ....i did try cardio to get rid of it and it just didn't work for me, so im trying lifting...and im getting better results..

Cardio yes does burn fat but also burns that hard earned muscle you trying to build to get rid of the cc. But having more muscle makes your metabolism higher and it burns fat 24/7 cardio only does it for the time you do it for. Diet comes into play alot to but heavy squats, deads etc...will help keep the cc away.
To the original poster the reason the cc is looking worse is because your building muscle and that is fat on top of it the muscle is denser than the fat so it pushes it to the surface.....and yes beware your pants will get tighter... It will look better the longer you weight lift and as long as your diet is good with cardio in moderation it should be gone soon.

Having a good diet full of healthy natrual foods is the best way to decrease your your celulite...of course lifting heavy goes hand in hand with that but I think diet is much more important...make sure you are eating a good balance of lean protein/unprocessed carbs/healthy natural fat at every meal (except for pre/post wo) and make sure you are eating plenty of fibrous veggies, fruit, and drinking plenty of water!

Yes please do your research before you come back and start an arguement. THere are plenty of studies and women here that know what they are talking about and not just book things their own personal experiences.

oh wow, a majority of you are 10years older at least then i am, i stopped simply cause i didnt want to insult someone, then there was that because your wrong comment which is completely antaginizing and actually it makes you look a little stupid cause you dont even know what i was going to say, i mean maybe in your opinion i still would be, but i guess your psychic(if you believe in that kind of thing and want to pose as it), also, do my research? do you even know what your talking about?, go to your gym, talk to a personal trainer, go to a site where people specialize in exercise, not just message each other and instigate with people half there age, you tell them that you believe anyone who does heavy squats and less cardio burns fat and they will laugh at you, i dont even do cardio but iv heard time and time again somehow that LIFTING WEIGHTS DOESNT BURN FAT ONLY CARDIO DOES, my 11 year old cousin knows that, every single fat losing "program"(whether it is or isnt a scam) is based around cardio, and the many that do actually work and are highly recommended, are based around cardio, and DONT involve heavy squats, so telling someone that something is wasted time that works for millions, is that really the way to go?, i mean if it works for a few then it must for everyone and lets tell everyone that cardio doesnt burn fat as well as squats, and sure you were just saying it for you, but considering the mass majority of people, people who have certifications in this kind of stuff, are saying otherwise, all i was going to simply say is that you shouldnt be telling people this stuff and trying to pass it as a fact, maybe say its your opinion, and considering thats all i was gonna say and theres all this hostility kinda makes you second guess the maturity of some people, of course now im gonna get all these remarks about my age and that i must be immature, maybe that my opinion simply doesnt count as much becuase of my age, probably get a few red dots cause that just seems to be what people do when they dont like opinions on here, and a lot of other things that are irrelavant, but thats fine, all i was saying is you shoudlnt try to pass it off as a fact when thousands of certified professionals(mostly) would tell you otherwise when hundereds of people read these, but i mean i can see how thats SO offensive and so unesacery(sp) to expect these kind of opinions on a public message board cause i thought maybe someone should try not to possibly mislead anyone(lol maybe next week ill think about posting a thread that says leg extensions build your chest muscle and doing it in your leg workout is a waste of time), i assumed these boards were about opinions, i kept mine to myself not to offend someone, but regardless it actually happened the other way around, how about people dont tell me to do research or that im wrong when iv heard hundereds of times what im talking about and they dont even know what i was talking about cause i never said

Well ok then. I was just being a little facetious...do you know what that means? lol...just kidding! Heavy weight training DOES indeed burn fat. i used to do tons and tons of cardio and all I was saying is that tons of cardio is not necessary when you are lifting the right way and eating clean. I was responding to the cellulite question. Mine did not go away when I was solely doing cardio, only when I cleaned up my diet and started lifting. I do actually talk to trainers at my gym and "real" people. Just b/c someone is a trainer, though, does not mean they know everything. I have seen many trainers who I wouldn't let near my worst enemy!

sure and i get that, im not saying everything i stated is 100 percent factual, im saying that a MAJORITY of stuff iv heard and from what people i know have heard says exactly what i say, if you were being facetious i apoligize, that whole comment wasnt aimed at you, and i had no way of knowing if you were serious, it just made me a little mad that someone who didnt even know what i was going to say already tried to say i was wrong(thats the way i saw it)

Maybe we jumped the gun a little , but all you said was, ONLY cardio gets rid of fat, and that's not true. I think all of us are a little sensitive to comments about doing lots of cardio, b/c we have been through it and have seen that it doesn't work. There are so many women that post saying that they're doing an hour of cardio 6 days a week and not understanding why they aren't losing weight.

More muscle means that you burn more calories.
Just adding that.

Well I am very sorry that I offended you but just as stated by twinnett and if you reread what I posted you will understand my first post
Cardio yes does burn fat but also burns that hard earned muscle you trying to build to get rid of the cc. But having more muscle makes your metabolism higher and it burns fat 24/7 cardio only does it for the time you do it for. Diet comes into play alot to but heavy squats, deads etc...will help keep the cc away.

my second....because of what you said

................
now with that said I told you to do your research on it since I was trying to help you before you started an agruement over something that you may not be up to speed with.
We never said that cardio did not burn fat in fact I stated that it burns fat and muscle(let me clarify for you) during the cardio it burns both and more calories than weight lifting yes . But Weight lifting builds more muscle mass that will in turn burn fat all day. Take that with a set amount of cardio in order not to loose to much at one time in order to keep it off you will in turn keep the cottage cheese off your butt. The reason women have cottage cheese look on their legs even that do sooooo much cardio and no weights is from no muscle mass in the legs to support the skin because you burned it all off in the just the cardio you did.
So if your diet is spot on, weightlift and do some added cardio you should be in the right direction to have no cottage cheese on your legs. By some I mean 2-3times a week of moderate cardio or do some HIT sessions. None of use here said no cardio we just said she would see better results in time with heavy lifting with a good diet and some cardio. Not to over do the cardio because it will burn the hard earned muscle that you have worked for in the long run and you will then have cottage cheese on your legs yet again.
Not all PT know their stuff. For some reason at my gym I was doing GHR's and one of the trainers had never seen that before. Some act like they know there things but they dont. Its always a learning process here. Yes we get tired of people coming here saying they are doing all this cardio and still dont have nice smooth legs like they did when they are younger. So we were advising her as she needs to give the lifting time along with all other variables in line and should would attain her goal.
I am truelly sorry you got so offended but I just wanted you to know that there are plenty of us here that have been doing what we do for so long that we know what works and quite of few of the women her are PT or own their own gym sweety.

Why not post a picture of the legs of a fitness girl and another of a marathoner and then everyone can make up their own mind.
I will say this, I see alot of cellulite every year at our annual 10k race my town hosts. In fact, the best female runner in my county (5 years straight) still has cellulite on her legs.
It bugs her alot too because she has mentioned it to me a few times. I told her to cut out the carbs, start eating more fat (coconut oil) and do sprints for awhile. Of course, she wouldn't do it because she is addicted to running 50 miles a week.
Instead of arguing whether lifting or aerobics is better for getting rid of cellulite, why not combine the 2 together. My feeling is that lifting is alot more important but I also realize that most women and men do not workout their legs intense enough in the gym to make a difference. Doing a 45lb squat and a 75lb leg press isn't going to cut it. I end up giving these girls one of my weight vests and I send them off to the soccer field to do sprints and the nearby soap box derby hill to run some hills. Of course, if they don't cut out the carbs, then nothing they do will help.

I so agree with you.....I myself though tend to lean towards weight lifting because I see the difference my legs look in the last 6years.....plus I get alot of people giving me compliments on how nice my butt looks even in a bikini...hehe

umm . . .how about 'eating less than you burn' burns fat?
really, all cardio (and other physical activities) do is burn calories. they create a calorie deficit and increase metabolism, which in turn forces the body to burn fat for fuel if the energy requirements aren't met. you can do all the cardio in the world but if you eat too much, it won't make you lose blubber. low-intensity cardio (walking) indeed does use fat for fuel during the exercise but as the total amount of calories burnt is very low, it won't make much of a difference.

Hi
Hi guys I m new to this forum, sorry if it seems like I m hijacking the thread, but this is exactly my problem too and I really want to work on it.
I have CC thighs too. and My butt is not firm at all. I really feel gross obviously and cant get into the bikini on the beach.
I am not overweight overall. I m 5'3" and 122 lbs. I was 115 a month ago, but I did not exercise at all for the period and I gained the wieght , especially because I ate a lot of unhealthy food. But even when I was 115, i had the cellulite, only slimmer belly.
I am ready to start this over and do anything to keep iit consistent.I am not rich enough, so i cant afford a personal trainer. How do you guys do deadlifts? I get embaraased to do it in front of all the guys and especially because I dont have anyone to work out with. Do you guys think that the isolation workouts will work as well as the actualy lifting?
I do the mountain biking classes to toone my inner thighs. my outer thighs are tight as hell, only problem is with my inner thighs. Do you guys have any suggestions for me please?
Really appreciate it. I need to do this, otherwise i ll always be afraid to get more intimate in my relationship..do guys gross out at the site of cellulite.( yeah i m a virgin for the very reason that i m scared the guy wuld freak out if he saw my cottage cheese inner thighs lol)

from one newbie to another
Hi mizzpri. I'm new here too and after reading this whole thread ending with your post, I just had to jump in. The advice given here - eat clean, lift heavy with cardio in moderation - has done great things for me in the past 10 months as I've gotten back on the exercise horse and started changing my body. I don't have cottage cheese thighs, but they did look rough from road rash I got from a motorcycle accident when I was 19. Last fall I decided I wanted to play on a women's full contact (American) football team and some of my friends that had played in the past said, "T, do squats. Tons of them!" So, I changed my diet (5-7 meals a day), started running with football in mind (lots of sprints), and started doing squats like crazy (in addition to other lifting as well). The change in my legs has been eye-popping! Even the roughness, which was scarring, has smoothed out demonstrably. These folks know what they're talking about. Just do what I've been doing over the past few weeks, read these forums and take notes like crazy!
Oh, and the guy thing.... *chuckle* In that particular situation, I don't think most guys notice much of anything other than "GIRL. SEX. YAY!!" LOL!! So, don't sweat it. Good luck!

Oh honey, if a guy is worth an ounce of time, he wont even notice anything like that. Remember, if you want to change your body for the better, do it for YOU, not because you're scared a guy wont like your legs during intimacy.
More then likely, you're your own worst critic... I know thats how I am about myself.... Wanna know something funny tho? My husband is my biggest ego boost, nothin gets makes me happier and more motivated to workout then when he compliments how well I'm doing . You find a guy like that, and intimacy isnt a problem, cellulite or no.
