i had braces up unti like 8th or 9th grade. i was a dumbass and never really wore my retainer and I went to the dentist today for a cleaning and he said to go see an othrodontist because my teeth look like they shifted. he said i probably would need a retainer or something to put in at night. i'm just nervous that i might need braces again which he said nothing about. they must've just shifted a tiny bit, because i can't even notice it.
anyways has anyone ever had this happen and what did you get to fix it?

haha funny story. i had to wear braces for like 3 years cuz of pretty stubborn teeth. i was even given this headgear to wear to help an overbite or soemthin but i never wore it cuz it was terrible to sleep in.
so anyway, 3 years pass, i get a retainer and my braces off. i wear it maybe 2-3 days, and i cant stand sleeping wtih this either. so i stop. fast forward about 1 year and i go back for a follow up. theyve shifted significantly (the 2 eye teeth on the top) and are like jutting out so i have to get braces on AGAIN! i wear these for close to a year. then i get them off and get another retainer.
that was about 5 years ago. i never wore THAT retainer either! my teeth have shifted a bit since then too! i guess ill never learn! but im not getting braces again. and *&^@ retainers too while we're at it!

Yes, but not much. I was given a plastic retainer when the metal ones were taken off. Initially I had to wear it all the time, then at night, then at mealtimes or something. I never wore it at all though. While my teeth didn't move that much, I can physcially move them, as if they were loose.***Irish Misc Crew***

I had braces for 3 years, had them removed for 1 year, then placed back on for 2 years.
I wore my retainer religiouosly, wore my rubber bands, and followed their instructions. Ironically, it was my jaw line that was causing problems. They thought I suffered head trauma or something, because my jaw line took a major shift once they took the braces off the first time. I guess I was still growing.

I wear my retainer every night while sleeping and all is fine. If you dont wear it they'll get as bad or sometimes worse then before (believe me I have friends who this happened too).Except for combating and limiting the implementation and spreading of Slavery, Fascism, Nazism and Communism, war has never solved anything.

Maybe your wisdom teeth are making the rest of your teeth move? I never had braces or anything similar because my teeth grew out good, but the problem was with wisdom teeth. They started growing out when I was in my mid to late teens, so my bottom front teeth are slightly pointing inwards.▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒
