Filling out
Can anyone give me any details about our bodys naturally gaining mass and filling out as we get older. Im almost 19, I was wondering when im going to fill out and start gaining weight, I know no one knows the answer, but when is the normal age people start to fill out?

I can't say what normal is, but I can say that I only "filled out" when I got my back under a bar and started lifting weights. For me that happened at the ripe old age of 40.
I got some muscle tone at about your age by joining my high school's swim team. It mostly showed in my back and chest. My chest actually developed asymetricaly because I always breathed on the same side when I swam freestyle. Over the years, my body developed here and there as I switched from one form of exercise to another. I was into: skateboarding, biking, tae kwon do, and rock climbing. In each case, I got some muscle tone, but never really "filled out" untill I got myself into a gym three days a week to lift weights. Oh, and it also helped when I started eating like a (healthy) pig.

Hehe,
for me the "filling out" started with app. 30, when I moved in with my GF and we started cooking together and going out for dinner regularly. Coupled with a desk job, absolutely zero exercise, and hearty cantina meals for lunch, I "filled out" app. 45lbs in about 5-6 years. All pure fat, obviously...
Regards,
Aquilius

I remember my muscles filling out most when I hit 21. By then I was in universiy, SCUBA diving and fencing.

Haha, I am 47 and I am still waiting to fill out! When I was younger all I would hear is, Just wait until you're 25 and you won't be so thin any more. And then it was 30, then 35. No one says anything any more.
Sounds like you could be an ectomorph, in which case the only solution is to eat and lft, eat and lift. Oh, and eat some more.

Lol maybe some people dont fill out. and im not and full eco, ecto-meso, so I know I can gain weight its just my calorie intake isnt high enough. My question had to do with filling out naturally, not gaining wieght by eating.

During my college years, age 18-22, most of us filled out and thickened as our bodies matured. The guys who worked out grew bigger pecs, biceps, and shoulders. The guys who partied grew beer guts. So some of it is up to you.

Yep ^. I was somewhere in between, as I continually drank between sets. Seriously. But I think the 30's, as Aquilius described, was the real "filling out" period for me.
