kind of pudgy but nobody else says so blog
i'm 43 and have done a lot of physical activities, from marathons to powerlifting, but the last four years have mostly been cycling challenges since a calf injury prevented any real fun with running.
this year i feel out of ideas, like i have done it all so whats the point.
"you need a challenge" a friend told me recently and he was right. rut "1" me "0" but the game is on.
goal: tranform pudgy gut and get back into a more mesomorphic shape. my legs stayed big from the biking but my upper body looks lazy and boring.
plan: lift 3x/w (core) run 8 miles
adventure: play with supps and try not to get burned.

core training on monday - the "A" day
squat 135lb 5x10
bench 115 5x10
dead 135 5x10
with focused breathing, i finally did not get headaches on my squats =)!!
deads, however, got me =(
felt a good response from
creakic
gackic
lackic
started diesel test supp

tuesday i can't walk normal.
running 2 miles helped, although stairs are still a 911
got a massage: aaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh
wednesday back in the gym - the "B" day
squat 135 5x10
press 65 5x10
row 85 5x10
form a challenge on row
no shoulder pain on press!!
tried adding R4W and liked it, but can't say it was much of a boost over already taking supps. perhaps gackic too early and R4W too far out from workout?

got a 2 mile run in wednesday and another massage thursday. i am so spoiled.
giving up on creakic. i just don't seem to do well with creatine: bloat and many bathroom visits - yeck!
ok, friday and i have to get psyched for another "A" day
squat 135lb 5x10
bench 115 5x10
dead 135 5x10
OK. wk 1 in the bank!
deads much better today. improved breathing consistency and longer rest periods. still with a slight headache however =(
i hate to make faces and noises but you just gotta let the animal out (a little at least) while doing something as core as dead lifts.
squat 3x/w seems crazy but i am hip to the idea.
bench started embarrassingly light but i stuck with it. not much rest between sets and by 3rd the last few reps were a challenge, by 4th and 5th it was a sweet challenge.
tried gackic ~40 minutes out. R4W 10-15 minutes out (with slower consumption: over 5-8 minutes) lackic with H2O as I readied in the gym parking lot. R4W much enjoyed for first 0.5h of workout.
the ginsing in diesel test is getting more tolerable. trying 2-1-2 and the dull headaches are abating.

saturday and all i have to do is get a little 2 mile run in. i gave up coffee all week which is amazing - this morning i am rewarding myself with 2 mugs. yummy!!
after a year of prozac i was upto like 4 or more cups a day. prozac did it's thing and i am now off and enjoying all of my faults.
trialing sex supps (just for the fun of it)
ejaculoid 2QD
tribuloid 1QD
stimuloid 1 QD (only with food since the niacin flush is unpleasant)
nothing happened at first (of course) but today (after just a week on these supps) my gf had better watch out =)

I'm a little surprised with the "light" weights on the squats with the cycling background.
Challenge for you - try some extreme sports.

squat 225 5x5
press 115 5x5
row 155 5x5
So two weeks under my thumb. Two weeks and too fast; I had planned on volumizing.
Ah, the ego!!
Great to pump out dignified poundage, though I must get a new plan going for a real scientific approach to gains. Next week back to A-B-A and I am going to design it with some room for growth.
I against I
set the ego aside.
Peace out.

Hey Nuc. I hear that! Should be posting up this lifting log in the female bodybuilders section, but you gotta curb the ego sometimes. Life is cruel! And I am no Lance Armstrong on the bike so gotta work with my puny genetics =)
But hey, like Iran on the global scale, I've got my own nuclear goals and soon will be pushing around some ICBM's in the gym. At least I hope so. As I understand it, it goes like this:
Cardio > Muscle > Tendons & ligaments.
So you gotta take it slow at first as you get your wind, then your strength, then solid tendon and ligament structure. I was going to do volume for a 4-6 week cycle but have already jumped the gun into my strength program since I feel like my body is responding more like a 20 something than a 40 something. My friend at work is all into Crossfit and I can see it's appeal, but I am so weak I just gotta build up the castle walls before I can consider anything else.
I've never really applied such a scientific approach to lifting: rather, just throwing on more weight and trying to lift it. Now I am going to try and stay semi-strict to Ripps idea of +2.5% each cycle.
Fun to come here and read good and solid advice - and have a little fun - to stay smart and motivated.
And hey, a belated hello and thanks to all that have dropped into my story so far: Joed, JT, Nuc, Hoosie. I can be so introverted sometimes (well, all the time) that I suk at good o'l social grace. But I want you to know that I appreciate it and this is fun!! So thanks =)

Hey shy guy, you mentioned a buddy that does Crossfit. What is that?
-
Registered User
Well. He is by training a golden glove boxing amateur. Now trying mixed martial arts.
He talks about high volume core training and some crazy stuff like rope climbing; when is that last time you climbed a gymnasium rope for 4 minutes. Ouch! that has to be fun.
From them: "CrossFit started as a maverick gym in Santa Cruz, having become the principal strength & conditioning program for elite police forces, military special operations teams, champion martial artists, and olympic athletes worldwide. It also does a great job of getting the average everyday joe into spectacular shape...
Our athletes are trained to perform successfully at multiple, diverse, and randomized physical challenges. This fitness is demanded of military and police personnel, firefighters, and many sports requiring total or complete physical prowess."
I can see the appeal to overall cardio, agility, and strength. Like a gymnast warrior, perhaps.
I think I am more interested in a focused program: weights hard core, cycling hard core, running hard core, or whatever, just be it hard core =)
Perhaps if I was younger and could make a go at mixed martial arts, well that would be interesting. Although I have never liked getting hit in the head!!

hey joed, saw a gal doing bicep curls while standing on a balance ball (with her trainer standing by). i think that is the sort of stuff crossfit enthusiast do.
today, another day with the squat rack. a hundred people in the gym and no wait. awesome.
squat 225 3x5
press 95 3x5
row 135 3x5
chins 2x5 (best i could do)
abs
old shoulder injury is there, but i'm holding the bar wider on the squats to eliminate the strain and it's all good on the military presses, so hopefully i can just build up and heal without f'n it up.

Man thrux, I don't know about you but if I even tried to stand on a balance ball they'd be pickin' pieces of me up. I'm still trying to figure out how to do a power clean.

hey brain, i am glad i got into deads while on vacation. i think it's been 10 years and man did i pay! but after that first time, nothing for the quads while the upper back and the calves play catch up.
being a novice, this is quickly becoming my fav lift since i can go up so fast with the weights.
joed, i WISH i had some trainer in our gym who knew the olympic lifts. i'm reading Ripp's book and just the basic movement of squat and deads is a challenge on your own.
well everyone, i am off for the weekend, but i'm trying the ultimate stack tonight:
grilled -- organic, grass fed rib eye
chilled -- st pete's organic english ale
come monday, i am sure these supps are going to make for some mega gains!!!
-

Hi thruxton, I am new here. I like your stack of Supps. But wheres the Potatoes? I also want to say that your lucky because every once in a while in my gym on my leg night it seems that everyone wants to do legs. And guess what? Its all those people you never see in the gym. I end up having to move all my sets around on those days.
Good luck on your goals, and Dead lifts Rule.

ah, the life of a teenager:
up late with too much coffee
pizza
beer
porn
hdtv football
slacking in general...
oh wait, i'm 43?!?!
damn, back to the gym my man, get real!!!
"A" day
lots of good warm up set today, then felt great:
squat 235 3x5
bench 185 3x5
dead 250 1x5
assistance work
dips 1x3 then disaster with shoulder give-way. unable to continue (probably too much of a jump on my bench???)
did some ab work too
so far loving these supps: gackic, diesel NOS, diesel TEST, leukic (trying anator + whey + fruit smoothie post)
thinking about Cenegenics Medical Institute to test for test and hgh etc. worried about the cost (which is kind of huge) and necessity since i seem to be again well. plus hgh has SE of possible diabetes, baldness, and latent cancer acceleration so it's no joke.
i don't want to live to a century anyway, just at least until my dogs die then it would be fine. quality is all that matters physically and spiritually.

Going for strong and lean
How are you liking Gackic? I found that it helped me get beyond the burn to push put a few more reps. Only thing is that I was more sore the next day.
