    Does anyone else have this problem when drinking protein shakes?

    I need to really boost my calories cause im at 145lbs right now and thats way to skinny. so ive been trying everything. ive tried store bought weightgainers and homemade weightgainers but i always get the same result.

    it is always hard for me to drink, so it takes about 20-30 mins to finish. but after i finish i feel bloated, i loose my apetite for hours, sometimes most of the day and i always have to wait like an hr or two after drinking to workout. i always get rock hard ****s about 30mins after drinking, so it feels like that whole shake is gone to waist since most of it was undigestable.

    and the point of drinking weight gainers isnt to really replace meals but instead its to assist with your daily diet, but by the time i get my appetite back its already to late to get alot more meals in, so if anything it is working like a weightloss product because i could never eat that much after drinking them.

    so maybe i should just stick to regular foods and low calorie(not so filling) protein shakes. what should i put into my daily diet?

    i have loads of tuna, so i like eating that daily, and also PB sandwiches, eggs, cheese, milk...what else?

    You just have to work at it. Overtime, eating every 2-3 hours will be easy.

    some times when I eat a can of tuna I get really hungry right after it, which is a good thing...

    weird how it happens though but I'm not complaining

    Have you tried with water instead of milk? Sometimes a lot of milk can cause a gassy / bloated / full feeling.

    I used to have the same problem somewhat. One scoop of ON in water would make me feel full for about 2 hours, I swear I couldn't eat. Well luckily I have gotten over that so I guess with time you can outgrow it/force yourself to down food.

    whats in your gainer?
    +try to space your meals like 1.5-2 hours in length or longer depending on how much you consume per meal. protein shakes can only provide so much, all that excess goes right to the colon and isnt digested = gas/bloated feeling..just get urself a good bulking diet.

    my suggestion is this. count your carbs, proteins, and fats daily, dont worry about calories if your bulking. i suggest if your skinny just try to clean bulk you should be just fine.

    Try switching out lighter foods with more calorie dense choices. For example,

    Instead of / Choose
    -------------------------------------------------
    Tuna / Salmon
    Egg whites / Whole eggs
    Turkey / Lean beef
    Cheese / Guacamole or Avocado
    Bread / OATS!

    You get the idea. Basically try upping your cals using good fats and dense carbs. I'm assuming you're getting enough protein (at LEAST 1gram per lb bodyweight), but if not, up that obviously.

    i think it might be the oats, some people have real hard time digesting them, that or get a whey protein isolate, it will be easier on your stomach. Maybe your lactose intolerant...

    Instead of eating big meals, try constantly munching and grazing. Eating a smaller meal every hour might also help.

    thanks for the help guys, grealty appreciated. I might try to stay away from weight gainers for a while and try to start a diet that consists mainly of food instead of supps(ofcourse besides my Multi-vit and some other pills) thanks
