smilax!!!!!!!!!!tell me what you think
Any one ever try smilax. I heard a myth that it helped with boosting testosterone levels. Honestly, I think its a waste of time. But then again I don't know. If anyone has tryed it tell me about it.

Do you mean SIMILAX?
SARSAPARILLA (Similax Officinalis)
Native to tropical America and the West Indies. There are three types of sarsaparilla ... 1) S Aristolochiaefolia-Mexican, 2) S. Refellii-Honduran, 3) S. Febrifuga-Ecuadorian.
The root is used in China and has been recommended for rheumatism and arthritis. Known to enhance digestion ... is a diuretic. Sarsaparilla root is known to neutralize microbes in the blood stream. It is used to flavor soft drinks like root beer and to treat coughs, hypertension, pleurisy, wounds, sore eyes and burns.

Traditional use internally for skin diseases, liver disorders, venereal disease, herpes, and vaginal discharge. Sarsaparilla Root contains steroidal saponins, antibiotic compounds that provide the basis for sarsaponin tablets, which are effective in many cases of psoriasis. It may also have hormonal effects and may improve fertility in women with ovarian dysfunction. Sarsaparilla Root may reduce inflammation, control itching, improve digestion and elimination, and act as an antiseptic.
Introduced in the 19th-century from Mexico to the cowboys of the American Old West, as well as other parts of the USA, "sasparilla" was often consumed as a refreshing, non-alcoholic "beer" formed by mixing extracts of Sarsaparilla Root with soda water. (It was frequently mispronounced--and then misspelled--as "sasparilla.") Today the sweet, acrid flavor is commonly known as "root beer" in the USA (ref: A&W Root Beer) since extracts of Sarsaparilla Root are often used to flavor soft drinks, ice cream, candy, and bakery products.
Sarsaparilla Root from Mexico is smilax aristolochiaefolia while that from Jamaica is smilax ornata.

I didn't even know that stuff was still around. I think it was at least 12yrs ago since I've used it. You would squirt it under the tongue right before you lift, it just gave me a shot of energy and it was gone in a few minutes. I couldn't tell you if it raised T levels, I doubt it.

Same here bro.
I was using Smilax back in '87-88..
Let's see, was that before or after Cybergenics?... Hmmm.....
Well, I definitely remember I was stacking it with Dynamic Muscle Builder..
I made some great gains back in those days, but I think it was more about the fact that I was 18 and eating everything in site. Not sure that the Smilax had anything to do with it.

stacked mine with Heavyweight gainer 900. Sean ray used it so I knew it worked. Long story short, it may work for something if you take a good extract like 50:1 or 100:1

smilax officianlis was once used as a source of plant sterols from which steroid hormones were manufactured.
the plant sterols had to undergo several chemical reactions before they were converted to active hormones.
Dioscorea yams were more commonly used as a source of sterol precursor (diosgenin).
Today in the west, beta-sitosterol from soybeans is the precursor of choice
these plant sterols have no physiological activity in man (they may not even be absorbed in the first place)
bottom line: smilax is a scam

heavyweightgainer 900 was my fave as well
i fell for the yohimbe bark scam back then. strength systems usa brand
it was not until i went to the library and looked up yohimbe and tried to find out about its relation to testosterone that i wised up. It was at that point in fact that i began my serious research into supplements. This was 1990, 1991
