Any Babalu fans in the house?
Renato Sobral, is my favorite MMA/BJJ fighter. Anyone else a fan?

Not my favorite, but I'm a fan for sure.

he does great on the ground and has some good leg kicks too. i think chuck will KO him standing up and chucks takedown def is very good. but if babalu got him to the ground he'd have a good chance of submitting him, but i dont think chucks stupid enough to take him down

I like Babalu, i think hes a great fighter who definitely deserves his shot at the title. However, i do kinda want him to lose so we get to see the long awaited Wandy vs Liddell fight

Babalu has been my favorite since I got into MMA... IMO anyone that goes to a decision with Fedor can handle any other striker in the LHW division.
Babalu definantly deserves his shot... it just sucks that the UFC had to piss all over it in prematurely announcing Chuck/Wandy. HOPEFULLY, Babalu ruins those plans.

wasn't his fight against fedor in rings, with no ground and pound
needless to say babalu is a threat to chuck.
he was shooting in for a takedown when he caught that kick from chuck.

First lines were released today for the 3 big UFC matches the next few monthes.
Chuck Liddell -355
Renato Sobral +295 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Forrest Griffin -215
Stephan Bonnar +185
Matt Hughes -135
Georges St. Pierre +115
I'm putting huge money on Sobral at that price because there is no way he is that big of an underdog hopefully they stay in place for the next week so I can find the sportsbooks with the best lines. Whoever put that up has to out of their mind I've been saying Sobral will pull this out since it was announced and apparantly I get a chance at being a rich man because off it. Thank you clueless bookmakers!!

I like him and I'd love to see him take out Chuck, but I don't like his chances.

Basically, it would be nice to see him submit chuck (I can promise you it wont happen by RNC. lol) but its really unlikley to happen

Babalu takes chuck down (and he will take him down). Chuck will try and get up but pressuring Babalu's head and turing away a little to get against the fence. (Watch first fight with Randy) And when he does Babalu will take his back and win the belt.

Really? Looked to me like he was ducking away from a punch...

I agree, he was ducking a punch and put his face right into chucks leg. Didn't look like a shot at all.

The Iceman will knock him out. I have nothing agaisnt him but I just see Chuck winning.

Everyone sees Chuck knocking him out because they have seen him knocking Babalu out before. Everyone totally underestimates Babalu, and when the revenge seeking, ever improved, blood thirsty Babalu comes out with the perfect game plan on the 26th, it's gonna be an upset, and i'm gonna love it

I hope for Chucks sake he is focussed on the Babalu fight and isn't getting ahead of himself by looking to Wandy...Babalu has the tools to win and at those odds would be a good bet

agreed... but personally, I want Babalu to really f**k up these plans... make Dana squirm and worm his way into making Chuck/Wandy happen...
most people don't realize that Babalu is a solid top 5 (at least top 10) LWH in the world. Not only that, but he's been training steadily with the Brazilian Top Team for a while. He's SSSCCCCCAAAAARRRYYYYY good on the ground, and working with the BTT will only improve his game more. That and he's getting a steady dose of wrestling as well.
Babalu is Chuck's toughest opponent to date (other than Couture)... if Chuck doesn't do his trademark eye poke, then Babalu will win this fight.
WAR BABALU!

That is debatable. Chuck has beaten a LOT of good fighters. IMO Tito is as good as Babalu, people have just forgotten about him. Chuck has also fought Kevin Randleman (who beat Babalu when he was VERY sick), Overeem, Rampage, Belfort, Pele, Jeremy Horn, etc. Chuck is used to fighting tough guys, I don't really think Babalu is a huge step up in competition level for Chuck.

babalu should work on his conditioning more since chuck has hard time keeping his condition stable
-

Well Hulk, you make a good point.
Personally, I believe that Tito is the closest person on that list to Babalu. IMO, Babalu is the best fighter that you mentioned.
Belfort/Overeem/Rampage... all excellent fighters, but none are as polished or bring the type of game that Sobral does.
As for Jeremy Horn... well Horn has fought a lot of fights, but who has he beaten? Horn is the ultimate guy for being consistant. He beats up guys that aren't as good as him, and constantly loses to the top fighters in the game. He's a run-of-the-mill guy, despite his reputation and long list of fights.
Babalu, at this stage of his career, is the toughest fight Chuck will face to date.

long list of reputation and long list of fights should mean he should get more respect because jeremy horn has fought almost everybody and he put up a good fight when everybody knew he would be an underdog against for example couture and liddell jeremy horn deserves just as much respect as babalu because why? you tell me again and again why not

and i'm sure none of the light heavy weight can take on heavyweight like sergei khatalov or watever his last name is. overeem beat sergei but lost to liddell which means anything goes in the fight and you can never argue about who will win and who wil lose you gotta see it to belive it

what your are referring to there is MMA math, and it is far from an exact science

I'm a fan, but he's going to get knocked out by Chuck. His takedowns aren't impressive, while Chuck's takedown defense, and ability to stand back up are. He won't outstrike Chuck either. So basically, he's going into a kickboxing match with a knockout artist while his standup is weak.
