Help! ConvertXtoDVD Won't Let Me Burn My DVD! REPS
Hey,
I just downloaded a few movies and converted them on ConvertXtoDVD, but it won't let me burn them onto a DVD-R disc. It says that I need a Sony CD-RW disc to burn to, but that doesn't make any sense to me.
Does anyone know how I can get the files to burn to my DVD-R disc?
Thanks!

I have a CD burner. Not sure if it works for DVD's, however.

oh, well if they are around the 700mb range you can just use nero or whatever software you want and burn them to a cd. Check to make sure what you have
right click my computer> properties > hardware tab > device manager> then see what you have

Okay. Do I have to burn them to a regular CD, or can I burn them to the DVD-R discs that I bought?
Edit: I have a Toshiba DVD-ROM SD M1212
Does it make any difference what DVD drive I have?

Ahh, ****. I just tried downloading Nero off of this link (http://www.download.com/Nero-7-Ultra...ml?tag=lst-0-1)
and it all worked fine, but it says I need a serial number, and the one that they give you (IC83-7613-10E5-477X-4022-6KM5-4KC2) has expired. Is there any way to get a serial number that works without having to buy Nero?
Thanks!!

if it is a dvd rom drive you cant burn dvd's
If you have a cd writer get som cd -r's and burn the movies as a video cd in nero it takes some time to do it but you have them on cd and you can use them in any dvd player (computer or stand alone dvd player for youre tv)

Damn, do I really need CD-R's?
Haha. I just dropped like $30 on all of these DVD-R's and they are all gonna go to waste.

Honestly, some of you guys are so fukking dumb it's unreal!
If you're trying to burn a file you downloaded as a torrent - AVI, MPG file etc you first NEED to convert it to DVD MPEG-2. There are various ways to go about this and various ways to do it.
Then, you need to author the DVD MPEG-2 file. This basically means you'll be adding menus, chapters, sub menus etc. Or any other little bits you want to add to the disc.
Then, you have to output them as VOB files with the neccessary .IFO files. Or you can either output as an ISO and burn the image to DVD-R. If you have outputted them as Volumes (Vob files) you're best using software specifically designed for burning DVDs.

you can do that but you don't have to, if you have nero the program converts it and if you downloaded it i would bother adding chapters. he downloaded nero got it working now he just needs a dvd writer and he should be okay. Since he doesnt have a dvd writer the easy way is to make video cd of the movie's he downloaded.
And since not everybody is a computer expert don't call them f***** dumb. You had to learn it too at some point.
