Question Grape juice + glutamine = ideal preworkout drink?

Latley I have been drinking 10oz of grape juice with 10g of glutamine pre-workout. I definatley experience better pumps than usual. Do you think it's from the sugar, or the glutamine? I have read articles that claim glutamine gives you a pump.

    no..
Get a proper high GI carb like malto or dextrose and mix it with some protein. That is a proper pw shake. Glutamine does not produce a pump.

you're better off taking some form of simple carbs with whey protein powder and glutamine. the probable reason as to why you experience the pumps, is because when you work out, your muscle glycogen stores are depleted. taking in the grape juice replenishes them thus giving your muscles a full feeling (a pump). as far as the glutamine goes, it helps prevent muscle catabolism (muscle breakdown) and also serves as a muscle cell volumizer (draws water into the muscle's cells).

well said...although i think the glutamine, since it draws water into the cells might aid the "pump"

I take glutamine and have for awhile so don't get me wrong but I have never heard of anyone getting a pump from it. I would go with some protien and a good GI carb not grape juice.
