upright rows (my bad for posting bout this again)

wats up, i've been doing upright rows for a few months now without knowing they were called that, i figured it was my way of shrugs, seem to work well, my traps grew a lot, did not do much for my shoulders. The question is that I have pain in my shoulder now when throwing a baseball or football and my left shoudler sometimes just hurts with some exercises, is this caused by the upright rows? I knew they were bad for you but neva knew that i was actually doing them but since i found out today i'm woindering if thats the source of my problem. thanks

by the way, my left shoulder is more flexible than the right even thought its the one that hurts with exercises. both shoudlers hurt when trhowing stuff though
