Well you have to consider flavoring is taking up part of that. Normally whey concentrate comes in WPC 70 and WPC 80 right?

ON has consistently met or surpassed label claims, so I'm not too surprised, although this is without a doubt good info.

I remember these results, they were on a UK board last year sometime. I can probably find a link to the original lab results somewhere if people are interested.

The flavour tested in each case was chocolate btw, which I seem to remember people were unhappy about because chocolate usually has a slightly lower protein percentage than other flavours which may have skewed the results slightly. Even accounting for this however, most of the results are well below the manufacturers claims.

I believe (and please correct me if I'm wrong) that in the US manufacturers are allowed a 10% leeway and therefore many use this to alter nutritional data to their advantage? This may explain the variation to some extent.

Yeah some of these claims I'm seeing on other products seem optimistic considering what some these raw material data sheets floating around say. Still I would rather just have them go with enough flavoring rather than worry about having the highest % protein possible. If I wanted the highest percent protein I'd be getting unflavored.

Still this was a good thread and I'm glad I say this. Suprising.

    this is old news

Reflex was first on that list with their Instant Whey with 80g protein/100g.

Also the analysis was made for Reflex Nutrition.

I did not see the lab documents either.

I agree. I heard it may month ago.
Neither Reflex Nutrition did produce any evidence, nor did they back up their Whey Protein with any kind genuine info getting upto 80% mark!

HERE is a link to their whey lab test result done earlier this year.

Also, at the time the original report was made I think they claimed 78% on the label, not 80%.

I think these results may have been flawed. Because if they used Chocolate, it is known that it has a lower protein content due to using cocoa to flavor it. What the test may not have taken into account is that cocoa it self has a protein content that should be added to the others proteins (WPC etc) within the product. As the % of protein in cocoa is lower than that of WPC, it accounts for the lower total protein %. But this would usually be around 5% lower total protein per serving (30g serving) compared to "other" flavors...so this leads me to think that the results show protein % WITHOUT the protein in cocoa added....

FYI...to the other poster, you can not round up or have a 10% margin of error in the US, you can only round up to the nearest whole number i.e. 23.51g of protein per 30g serving becomes 24g. This is why is looks LESS per 100g as is law in the UK/EU....
