Hey everyone, I just competed in my 3rd figure show this season, and I won 1st in both classes I competed in (masters over 35 and short). It was so much fun! I am going to compete again in 2 weeks in both figure and fitness, and I can't wait! If you want to check out the pics, you can check my site and click on pics/video on the left. I love learning lots of new things from everyone here and appreciate all the info!

Congratulations. BTW I'm not a female, but I am being serious when I say that you are in excellent shape not just for your age class but for anyone. I find it inspirational that ppl of all ages can be in shape and living a healthy lifestyle. Keep up the great work!

Wow!!
Excellent work Fitlisa you look fantastic in those Biloxi pics. now you said you were in the Masters (over 35), so i have to assume that you are 'barely' over 35 from how you look.
you also said you plan on entering both figure and fitness comps. were you a 'gymnast' in your earlier life? i always assumed those women would have a sizable advantage over non-gymnast types. what kind of routine have you been practicing? i also assume you have to have some kind of 'required element' section for 'fitness' includding tumbling and such, though i must say i'm not sure.
i've never competed, probably never will, but find it awesome for all those that have the discipline to do so. besides, now that i've turned '50', i could never successfully compete against the 35+ group. maybe, if they have a 'grand-master category', say 55+, i can think about it as a reality
best to you,
~lifer

Thanks Liftingislife and dbflgirl!
No, I don't have gymnast experience but I do have a big dance background training since I was 3 years old. I have always wanted to compete in fitness, but it took a long time to convince myself to do it, and this is my first time, so I will see how it goes. My routine is self choreographed and it focuses on dance and strength movements and has a big entertainment factor as well (at least I think so). I have no aspirations to take the fitness to a higher level, I am doing it locally for fun.
And never say you are to old to compete--many contests have for both bodybuilding and figure masters categories that go way up into the decades, over 40, over 50, etc! Some even have for men's bodybuilding grand masters which is 70!! And I am 38 years old, btw.
