The light-heavyweight class was deep and very tough. Here are Justin Hunter, Andrew Paterson and Albert Rubinaccio:

Here's a familiar name and face: Mitch (RailZ) Staats, who took 2nd in the light-heavies, though many (including myself) though he should have won:

A.J. Sims and Orlando Griffin took only 6th and 5th in the class, which points out how tough it was. A.J. is only 17, so he will have 2 more shots at the title:

The very tough light-heavyweight lineup (first callout). From left to right, these athletes took 3rd, 2nd, 1st and 4th.

Thanks for the contest shots as usual jimpern.
Something seems off about Mitch... His color, lack of cuts, idk... I still think he should've won his class though.
Edit: After looking back at the shots, now I'm REALLY sure he should've won his class. He had the best conditioning, symmetry, arms, back, legs, shoulders, tiny waist to boot... Hell I think he had the best everything. I hope someone figures out how Jimenez beat him.

Although many did not agree with the class decision, Alex Jimenez was the unanimous winner, so the judges must have seen something a lot of us didn't.

And finally (for now), a pic of heavyweight (and eventual overall) winner James Seymour.
I should point out that these are all the pics from prejudging. I should have some from the evening show up in a few days.

I had to scratch my head at some of the final placings. While all of these young guns looked awesome I personally would have placed them a bit different.

Hey, Randy, I'm sorry I didn't get to see you compete. It's just that by 11 PM I had had it. I hung around long enough to watch the inimitable Karl Marshall win yet another Over 70 crown, and then I went up to bed! Congratulations on your class win. Maybe you'll be winning the Over 70 someday!

Mitch, I don't think I've conversed with anyone yet who doesn't think you should have won. I'm sorry I didn't get to meet you at the show; maybe I can stop by Lakeland on my next trip down through central Florida. Now you just need to "press on regardless". In the long run, that second place may be the best thing that ever happened to you.....

Reps mate, but for some reason this group of guys is no where near as impressive as last years group. Props to Railz though. Wonder why you placed 2nd?

I know Railz has lots of personal friends on this board. I personally have never met the young man, so this is not a biased observation.
I've looked at the pictures, and I can't for the life of me understand how he didn't at least win his class. Now, this is just based on the pics above, but Railz appears to have out-conditioned the winner in every way. The only thing the other guy has on him is more mass.
But Railz looked solid from head to toe. Chest, lats, delts, lower back, abs, arms, quads, hamstrings, glutes, calves - all looked better than the other guy. And talk about symmetry - Railz wins hands down.
Again, it's based only on these pics, but I don't see it. Railz should've won.

As an ‘old’ timer, all I can say is the level of detail the young guys have is amazing. At 17 I was just beginning to see the first results of lifting, even though in the 70’s lifting was forbidden by most coaches.
Thumbs up to the all the guys.
