Exclamation Just thought this was interesting...

I'm probably the only person I know that has vast knowledge of bodybuilding and nutrition etc. etc. And I make good gains and all, I just think it's interesting to note. That the 7 biggest people I know do what most people hear would call "overtraining" No they're not on roids, And only 1 is on andro. They have normal bone frames pretty much. No real terribly large genetic advantages. So maybe working out every muscle twice a week doesn't hurt? or maybe Not everyone who lifts 5 days a week is overtraining? also they life like 2-3 hours a day. Just thought that might interest you all. Keep in mind we're like 16 and 17 so maybe we have better recovery at this point in our lives. Who knows. (I might also mention we don't eat all taht great either. I mean we all try to consume alot of protien, but other than that we eat like ****. Luckily I don't put on much body fat). Oh and none of us were like the gifted 14 year old with 17 inch bicpes, those guys don't even lift and they're huge lol.

That is why I sometimes think overtraining is not 100% correct. Maybe to a point. The average buff guy on the street overtrains t and the buffest bodybuilders 'overtrain' (i know they take steroids). I think that if someone eats a lot (doesn't have to be that strict) and works HARD, and is not an ectomroph, they will get pretty big and decently muscular. Overtraining is not a fact.

yeah ectomorphs are also not what people think they are. If you're a skinny teenager, you're normal. Now if you're one of those Kids that notices you're REALLY little, (this usually applies to really short kids) you might be. I don't think there's really such a thing as a tall ectomorph because at a good height (unless you're a complete bean pole) you're body is going to be descently Broad to cover for your height.

And for ppl who will diss me for not believing in overtraining, answer this: The village blacksmith is an average man with average genetics yet he has the biggest forearms of any villager. In fact, he has bigger forearms than many bodybuilders (who don't take synthol). He hammers away hard for 7-10 hours a day. 6-7 days a week. If overtraining was 100% true, he would have nothing in between his wrist and bicpes. Yet, they are massive pairs of veiny forearms. Why? Because there is no such thing as overtraining the muscle (as long as your not ripping it out). Only undernutriton/sleep

Possibly, i do know most of the guys i worked construction with had huge calves and forearms, but look how long it take them to put on this size. It takes over 10 years, where as 3-4 years of hard training will yield the same results.

Lionheart: How long have these guys been training for. Almost any kind of lifting will give results if you are in your first 3-6 months. After that overtraining starts coming into play and you need to start varying your routine. Also, there are plenties of studies that show overtraining exists, do you think cortisol is a myth?

Even on the best diet one can overtrain.

forearms are different, they recover very quickly, and can take constant stress... besides, when your in the gym the intensity is much higher in terms of working a particular muscle (but for shorter period of time) than someone hammering away hours a day.. which is why you just cant lift for 7 hours in a row.

    Thumbs up

well I've been training with them for about 3 months. I lifted before that but not very consistantly at all up until about 6 or 7 months ago. They've been at it for about a a year and a half. I have some catching up to do lol.

Oh and three of them are about 2 years older than us and they're huge as ****. Like 5'9 220, 5'10 240, and 6'5 280, (he's the one on the andro). All they tend to look more like powerlifters than body builders right now. except for ryan (the 5'9 one) he's ripped as ****. They're been at it for about 5 years though.

Alot of those results have to do with genetics. I know everyone thinks I juice, but I'm just fortunate enough to get the gains I do without it. As for overtraining, it really depends on the person. Some people can probably get away with it, but the majority would be better served to stick to training each bodypart once a week. If you can get away with more, than more power to you. Just remember, everyone is different, do what works for you.

    my theory

overtraining occurs when one does not consume enough macro nutrients to make up for those lost durring training

Good point. People forget how much of bodybuilding takes place outside of the gym.

I dunno man, stats like that are pretty hard to seem feasable unless some roids are being used. 5'10 240 is about the size of the average pro.

I work out everyday and i don't think i'm over training. My weight lifting coach works out like i do and is huge. I do

    arms and back
    legs and abs
    chest and shoulders
    legs and abs

and just do that everyday i can, as long as you give your entire upper or lower body 1 day to recoup you should be ok right?

Maybe im just weird and at a gentic disadvantage, but there is no way in hell i can train every muscle every other day. Hell, i cant do more than 7-8 working sets for a muscle each week without overtraining it.

Training for 3 hours a day IS STUPID

    Cortisol does exist

with the formentioned stats these guys are juicing and must have great genetics, big vince the steroid mod is like 6'5 287, you go tell him you have a natural teenager friend who is 6'5 and 280.

personally i think that overtraining depends on the phase your in. if you are bulking which means you are getting a lot of food to repair your muscles then of course you can train for a lot more time that when you are cutting which keeps you restricted from calories to repair your muscles fully. i always train for shorter periods although still heavy when cutting

KoolG; working your legs TWICE a week and the other bodyparts ONCE a week.. I don't think that's a good plan.

A good rule I currently follow is to train bigger bodyparts less frequent in a week and the smaller ones (which overall take more abuse) twice a week(mainly because I have lagging arms at the moment), and it works because the most used muscle of all is obviously the forearms and from there branches off Biceps/Triceps/Shoulders.

I don't overtrain because it takes about 48-72 hours for these muscles to completely repair anyways(the smaller ones).

Also about overtraining; The key is to be tuned-in with your body, your body recovers at a certain rate for every muscle and sometimes it is good to give your muscle one strong hit when they are 90% recovered which will make them grow even larger given adequate time or certain muscles just need to relax and grow by themselves over time. What I have noticed is the bigger bodyparts (back mainly) needs more adequate rest time and it grows by itself, chest is like this as well. While Biceps/Triceps they are used to work and can take a good beating of twice a week.

Experiment and find out what works for your body.

Also I recommend EVERYONE buys multi-vitamins.. Ever since I started supplementing with them my gains have been remarkably higher.. I am not sure if it is purely because of this but I know they help.

BTW Lionheart, before I started weightlifting I have always been kind of chubby but had a decent muscular mass so maybe I am an exception from the "norm" which you bring up. Now I've become thinner and more muscular(i seem to gain muscles at a good rate).
