Water Retention in Face - help!

When I wake up in the morning, my face (cheeks) is usually a bit puffy, and sometimes even bloated. I know it's definately not fat b/c when I do my cardio workout in the afternoon, my cheeks will become totally defined and there will be no sign of the puffiness that I had in the morning.

I've been reading a bit on water retention, and I realize that I do not drink much water during the day. That's an area where I need some help. Does drinking orange juice or gatorade count as water consumption? I take a piss maybe 3-5 times a day. Is that less than normal? My diet contains a lot of carbs and a good amount of sodium also.. Does this affect my water retention considerably, and what should I do to solve my diet problem? Are there any anti water retention pills that are recommended?

I want to be able to eliminate the puffy face during the morning and day. Any advice would be appreciated.

I know it sounds counterintuitive, but the more water you drink the more your body will expel because it isn't afraid of dehydration due to the constant supply. Try to drink about a gallon a day or more depending on how much you workout. No, I wouldn't count juice/gatorade as part of your water consumption.

Yeah, I'm definately going to increase my water consumption to around 2 gallons a day.

deluted gatorade is good when you're not performing physical activity.

A great food that i use often when I need to get cut quickly and up my definition are asparagus chutes. Go on a diet consistent with asparagus chutes and in about two weeks it will suck the water out of you. The question you have to ask yourself is whether thats a good idea for you. Your body retaining water in places that it normally doesnt is its way of telling you its scared that one of these days its not gonna get enough water, so it stores it for future use. You need to consume 1.5 gallons a day for a while to give your body enough comfort to just expel the stored water. That would be your best solution.

Thanks for all of your responses!

I've tried doing this (consuming large amoutns of water) over the past day or two and I am not really seeing a difference. Its so frustrating having water stored in my face and nowhere else in my body.

Now would the Asparagus chutes help (and be healthy) for my situation? Is their any other kind of medication/method I could use that would help me with my puffy face?

Like I was saying, you will have to drink that amount of water for more than a couple days to convince your body to drop the excess stored water. The asparagus would be just as safe as any diuretic, and all that water can be gained back, but to drain the initial you could do it while you are drinking the amount of water I recommended earlier. As long as you drink that water youll be fine.

The other thing you can try (althought I don't neccessarly recommend) is a topical weight loss spray on your face. Would it work? Probably, but I'm not sure what the long term affect would be.

I considered that for a while, but when looking into it, it seems as if these sprays are designed to remove fat, and not necessarily water. If I'm wrong, please let me know. Can you recommend any sprays?

you could try dandelion root. It's a diuretic. Also reduce your sodium intake. Sodium(salt) cause fluid retention. Make sure you are getting enough potassium to balance your eltrolytes.

It could also be due to excess cortisol which creates the so called "moon face". Look at some cortisol blockers. 7 keto, or Phosphatidylserine.

Lastly, it could just be genetics. Unfortunately. Good luck.

Prep-h to the face would give new meaning to the term buttface.

Sodium is a big factor in water retention BTW.

uva ursi is a great herbal diuretic. Caffeine is as well. if you take these with a lot of water, you wil dump the excess. A keto diet will also casue you to lose about 6 lbs in a day or two.

for puffiness, Arbonne skin care is GREAT.

Puffiness sucks. I feel your pain...literally.

Thanks a lot guys.. Over the past week, drinking a lot of water has not helped my face at all, and it appears to be getting worse after I tried Preperation H for two days (retaining more fluids).

I'm really confused with whats going on with my face, and I guess my next step will be buying some kind of topical fat loss spray or cutting gel I guess? Does anyone have any recommendations on this that actually helped them?

What did the Arbonne skin care do you for you?

Oh, I would never test that without researching it first. I found that many other people also take it because it can remove fluids from the area it is applied to. I am not taking any supplements at all.

Oh and I found out something that may help me with finding the root of my problems. I ran for nearly a half hour today and found that when I was finished, I barely sweated (if at all) in the areas where my face is bloated, while my forehead and everywhere else had a layer of sweat. Does this mean that something in my skin is blocking the release of fluids from my face through sweat? Any ideas?

Actually no, prep h is known as a topical diuretic. Never thought I'd see the day anybody really used it on their face though.

That is strange you might want to see a dermatologist about that.

    Either:

    1. Lose more bodyfat (come in at a lower percentage) overall, as much as needed that even with the water retention will not look 'puffy'.

    2. Low carb for several days, then get back to normal. (Easy on the carbs).

    3. You're eating far too many carbs overall, whether be sugar or natural, therefore decrease the ratio of carbs to protein and fat.

I used to hate this, and after implementing each of the above, do not see it anymore. Number 1 being the best method of action. With the water your face still looks extremely lean. Without, well.... ****ing lean.

    Lean face = good smile.

Example? ...Kevin Levrone. This was my goal at the time. Now achieved.
