Motorcycle Thread
hey people, just wondering if anyone else loves bikes as much as me.
Post photos, stories, experiences involving riding.
Ill start with some pics i have.
Pic 1 was taken by a pro who camps out on a popular rd just outside of sydney, 'The Old Pacific Highway' or 'Oldroad' as it is affectionately known. This was on my first bike i got to learn on, a simple Honda CB250RS that despite its age ran well and was alot of fun.
Pic 2 is my 1996 GSX600R - i cant beleive my friend actually got this pic - and i was so close to going over, which would have been very unpleasant, not counting any injury, the damage to the bike wouldnt be nice. I havent tried that again for a while

Currently i have an 02 Ducati Monster 620. A lot of fun but by far the slowest bike I've owned as an adult. We ride quite a bit but not as much as I would like to. Owned too many bikes to count over the years, been riding since I was six.

love the noise a Ducati puts out. Might not be too quick, but still a great cruiser right?

Been riding for about 2 years now, and love it. I have a 91 FZR250 3ln and an 89 GS500 that I recently rebuilt. I plan to sell them both and upgrade when my license restrictions end in November.
I still haven’t decided what I am going to get, figure it will be allot easier to decide after having a few test rides.
matthor have you had any track time? It’s an awesome day out if you can afford it.

Great pics.
It's good to see someone actually wearing their gear instead of the usual numbnuts who wear no helmet, no jacket, shorts, and even sandals on a sportbike.
Here's mine: (stock photos, my pics aren't on my laptop) 2005 GSXR600
I used to have a 1000, but had a couple wrecks so I stepped down to the 600 and love it!
I just sold my 2003 Hayabusa:

I had a few custom things done to each bike, primarily the Hay Bus.
And finally, here's what I want:

Hey Geno, was BamaGirl shopping in Destin, FL this weekend? If not, I saw a chick that looked just like her.

Hey dude, my friend had a 91 FZR250 i took it for a brief spin and was alot of fun.
No, no track time yet but it is definately on my list! i want to do an advanced riding course in the near future and then hopefully be somewhat of a regular at track days. seems like so much fun and is most definately safer than having a thrash on street roads - people are just waay too bad at driving and are so irresponsible.

Thanks Lothar,
yes you see some retards out there. i was catching a bus to uni one day and saw a very fit/hot bodied girl riding a CBR250RR which is awesome (very sexy ) but she was wearing a singlet, cut off jeans short shorts and sandals!
sure she looked fantastic there, but one minor fall and half her body would have been ripped to shreds.
Nice bikes!

hey dude,
my other friend had a purple zx2r - he liked it, till his engine blew, then the idiot (with no mechanical experience at all) decided he should pull the engine apart and try to fix it - long story short, he sold it for scrap and bought a suzuki GS500 which he loves.
what yr R6 you thinking? the new ones are sexy - love the exhaust!

As long as all goes to plan a 06+ model will be mine in the grey/black.. damn they look horn.. hehe.. they look like bats.. awesome bikes.. full of technology.
however if funds don't allow it il have a 02 or something of the sort.
Of course that's after i get plennnnnty of experience on the 250.. don't want to crash a 15k bike.. or worse kill myself.

very wise.
when ur starting out, take every opportunity to ride and build up some time ont he bike and get asmuch experience as u can.
if possible go for a long ride with someone who has lots of experience and take turns leading/following to watch how they ride and to let them critique you.
my dad has been riding along time and watching him and having him give me pointers really helped me out

No talk about the r6
The 2006 r6 is supposed to be the best riding production supersport bike to date
Apparently it is flawless in every aspect
Well im still on my Ninja 250 - so Im not too worried about it yet: the second I move out of Northern Virginia (malls, traffic lights, traffic, office buildings, and police as far as the eye can see) I will be getting an 06 r6

yes i've certainly heard some great stuff about the new R6 - but honestly, with it looking that sexy i wouldnt care how it handled
BlueDevil - sounds awesome, shame its gone aye? when i was still on my Cb250RS monster, i went for a ride with some friends and another guy on a 03 R1 - very freaking impressive from what i observed... any plans for a new ride?

It should be pretty obvious what bike I ride:
(I'm not that big, since I lost about 25 lbs since that picture was taken, last year).
I like the looks of the TT600, and it's a cheap bike to get because everybody wants the Daytona 675 now. And it's a Triumph, of course. My other ride, which I ride more often, actually, is a 99 Yellow fuel-injected Tiger.
My riding skills aren't up to anything more than the TT600 though. I haven't even come close to the limits of this bike. I've only done two track days on it so far and I was pretty shaky to say the least. There's no way I have the skill to exploit a 675, yet.
Someone listed the MV Agusta F4 1000. That's an elite bike, MV Agusta riders a class unto themselves. But for me, IMHO, money may buy the high end bike, but it doesn't buy rider talent. That only comes with natural ability, practise and patience.
I see most are interested in Japanese bikes. A bit of trivia for you: If it's Honda, Yamaha or Suzuki, it's all made in Hamamatsu. Kawasakis are made in Kobe. I've been through Hamamatsu, a very industrial area of Japan, on a friend's 50cc scooter. I noticed a lot of bilingual signs around there in Japanese and Portuguese of all things. A friend of mine pointed out that these three companies hire a lot of workers from Brazil for the cheaper labor. I've been to Japan 5 times, I find it a fascinating country.

yeah its an aweosme bike..
Only problem with it, is the EXTENSIVELY marketed redline which was marketed at 17,500 making it the most high revving bike on the market later when tested it only read out some 16,200rpm.. ahh well..
Can't fuking wait to get one. hahaha.. years away.

To be honest anyone who would buy a bike based on it’s redline is a fool. Although it would be a great feat of engineering to get a 600cc 16 valve engine to rev out to 17,500. The FZR250 redlines at 18,500 but only because the vales are so microscopic.

This winter I have noticed a marked increase in the number of bikes on the roads. No doubt due to the rising price of petrol.

I hear good things about the 675. Too bad the first shipments to Australia where sold out 6 months before they even left the factory. I don’t think the wait is worth it when you see the offerings of the big four's 600's.

I saw this dork on a beautiful cbr1000 (the blue & yellow) today. His Attire: Beanie helmet, tank top and sandals. I was staring cuz I was in shock, he saw me and probably thought I was staring cuz I thought he was hot...very sad! Not only is safety gear (helmet, gloves, boots...) important for the rider, but for the bike as well. Frame sliders, fork sliders, swingarm sliders, etc. Protect that investment! I've been to so many track days where the guys went down and their day was over cuz they had no sliders!

Riding home after the gym is a struggle so I like to borrow my old mans car when I can. Any other time I think my skill level is directly related to how focused I can stay while riding. The days when the mind starts to wonder are when my riding starts going down hill.
I have never heard of fork and swing arm sliders before. Frame sliders I can understand but they have down sides as well as up. I don’t think swing arm and fork sliders are worth the risk. The only times I have seen forks or swing arms bend was after a collision or highside. Sliders aren’t going to help in either situation.
I am still baffled when I see people wearing a $600 helmet leather jacket, gloves and a pair of shorts and running shoes.
