they arent bad for you.. but they arent great either. they are basically void of all nutrients. rice cakes are very low calorie tho.. so they make a good snack if you are watching your intake.

    Talking Rice Cakes are bad...

I don't know where you heard rice cakes are bad for you...

I tell you wants bad for you...

A sample meal that would be bad for you:
    Double Whopper with Cheese
    Extra Large Fries
    Extra Large Coke
    Crispy Creme Doughtnuts

    LOL

When I buy rice cakes, I go with organic brown rice.

With a GI of 80 and the fact that most people that actually ate them considered them a snack food because of the low calories were spiking their GI bigtime and we know what happen then, don't we.

This thread asked if they were healthy and my response is yes they are healthy. Beats most other options in the snack food section of store. I eat rice cakes with peanut butter everyday. The fit well into my diet.

I do agree with Madevilz, they're a great snack on the way home from the gym.....but I'm not too sure about other times. If they work for you, then that's great.........my concern was the body manufacturing insulin to compensate for the glucose slammed into the bloodstream almost immediately
if it's eaten by itself......and the greater concern is that the insulin spike is followed by a drop in insulin level that leaves you feeling tired and hungry and wanting to eat more.Which leads to eating disorders like overeating cravings for sugar to get another spike....blah,blah,blah....very dangerous and can very easily lead to diabetes related health concerns.Just my view and I hope you don't take it personally.

1 rice cake serving has a glycemic load of around 16. It's not going to spike your insulin.

No, I am not taking anything personally. Not at all. I just don't what this person (or anyone esle reading) to think that rice cake are unhealthy. They can be part of a healthy diet. In fact, they are an excellent choice.

Yeah I agree...........1 won't effect anything.I was refering to all the overweight people 3 or 4 years ago munching these like they were potato chips eating bags at a time.......the diet industry that were promoting them
had egg on their faces with all the medical flaming that pursued.Moderation is best always.

A GL load of 16 is not considered low, when 20 is through the roof, and a carrot is a 3.Personally 16 is high if consumed on it's own.

16 is high but on a grand scale the cals are virtually nothing so like we both agree Moderation plays the biggest role in this equation.

something i like to do thatll combat the carb only ricecake is get the lightly salted ones and put some cottage cheese on top. GOOD!!
