How long do you think it will take for the "I got a new exerbike/ treadmill/ elliptical/ soloflex/ etc/ etc" crowd to put them up for sale in the paper? Not the few who got them and will use them; I'm talking about most of them. You know, after they stop using them, they sell them to get them out of the house - the machine gathering dust is a painful and constant reminder of their inability to, once again, start getting in shape. Maybe next year...
So, when will they start showing up in the classified ads (and at nice prices usually)? Mid-January? Early February? Later?

My guess is much later.Probably the stuff you see in the paper now is from a few years ago.
Everyone I know who ever bought a piece of equipment like that is loathe to give it up.Even if they used it once and then it turned into the worlds most expensive clothes hanger.By actually getting it out of the house they are admitting failure. If its still there,at least there is a chance they might get going with it.
I'm sure some of the stuff from this year will show up in the paper soon enough.Maybe around May for spring cleaning? My heart tells me that Gollum has some part to play yet, for good or ill before this is over...

Here is one that showed up today:
"Home Gym Power Center, Body Solid, w/ weights, free & stacked. Lots of extras, $600/obo."
Whether it is from this year or last, who can tell. I think those retail new for about 2k, so they must just want to dump it."Ain't Gettin' Old, Ain't Gettin' Younger Though"

Ah, here's some more:
---------------------------
Sporting Equipment - Pilates PERFORMER workout & video, New, $150 OBO
(Denise Austine made this look so great - I did it twice - why isn't my body like hers yet? I give up!)
----------------------------
Sporting Equipment - NORDIC Track Pro, Great cond., $200
(This thing makes me sweat too much, plus it rattles like a cheap toy. I give up!)
----------------------------
Sporting Equipment - Fitness & strength system, Schwinn. Many exercise positions, like new. $600
(It makes me breathe way too hard. I give up! Where did I put that 10 lb box of chocolate-covered cherries...)
----------------------------
Sporting Equipment - Stairmaster 4000PT, exc. cond, $900
The brochure made this look fun, but it's way too hard. I give up!
----------------------------
And the only one I'd even think about going near, if I didn't already have a power rack and a FID bench (they are way too high on this one):
Sporting Equipment - Body Solid Deluxe Power Bench w/ 300 lb. weight set. System has squat rack, adj. bench, dips, leg station, 1 yr. old. Lists @ $544, asking $395aut viam inveniam aut faciam
