How To Make The Switch From Low Volume to High Volume Training

I have been training in low volume HIT style routine where I do 9 sets each bodypart twice a week. No I want to switch to a High Volume style routine (20+ sets workouts). Where would I start? Do I start out at 20 sets or do I work up to that?

why would you jump right to 20? whats magic about the number 20?

actually 9 sets per bodypart/twice per week is more like medium volume isnt it??

18 sets per week per bodypart is probably more than half the people on this site use

What I'm asking is how would I transition from an Upper/Lower Body routine with bodyparts down twice a week, to a routine where I do bodyparts all once a week with high volume.

    ohhh, I see, lol

even so, I think id work up slowly..maybe 12 sets the first week, then build up

IMO you are going to be WAY more sore on the once per week with that high vol in one day

So in your opininon, would splitting up the sets into 2 sessions per bodypart a week cause better gains than doing them all in one session?

I think overall, twice per week is better if you can recover from it....like instead of doing 20 sets on one day, better to do 10 sets on 2 days

but we are all different...we all have to experiment to see what is best for us....also we have to change it up from time to time
