Am I overtraining?
Hey everyone I was juss wondering if i am overtraining and i need sum tips on on weather or not my schedule is allright...
Monday:Biceps and Triceps
Tuesday:Upper Body and Legs
Wedsday:Biceps and Triceps
Thursday: Upper Body and Legs
Friday-Sunday i Rest.
I do about 3 different excersises per body part..about 3 sets of 12 and 1 set lifting until i cannot lift anymore...
I get sore the next day and can actually feel my workout..and i always read how its allright to take a days rest for each body part, so thats why i usually work out my arms and my chest/abs/shoulders/ and legs another day. So again my question is: Am I overtraning??? Or not training hard enough, or should i adjust my schedule t get more rest in or what not...need help, much appreciated.

be a little more spesific when u say upper body. do you really train abs, chest, shoulders, lats, and legs on the same day? what exercises do you do on these days and how long does it take you. also something that would be better is to put 2 days in between the same muscle groups, maybe work on a weekend day and take of 1 day during the week would be better for full recovery.

also one more point. because you're working so many muscle groups on the same day, you might not be focusing as well as you could be. you might want to take 2 muscle groups a day, for 4 days a week or something similiar and just try each mucle group once a week. it is better to train once a week very well, than to train 2 times bad cuz after awhile it might get stressing, and even counterproductive. im not trying to change ur schedule up 2 much but just trying to help.

Why would you avoid placing biceps and triceps with upper body? You are already stimulating those muscles indirectly throughout back/chest exercises. Then you proceed with another day of directly breaking down muscle fiber? Not a great idea.
Something Better:
Monday: Bicep/Tricep/Forearm
Tuesday: Legs
Wednesday: Shoulders/Chest/Abs
Thursday: Back/Calves
And make sure you are hitting the calves just as hard as any other bodypart. Lower the reps to the 6-10 rep range. And keep sets in the 3-5 range.

What's that?
For growth, the forearms only need direct stimulation once or twice a week by going to failure for 3-5 sets. So basically anything would do if you are allowing overload.

Do you have painfully bad headakes?
Do you feel nervous all the time?
Is you resting heart rate higher than normal?
Are you not hungry?
If you have none of those symptoms, than your most likley not overtraining.

I would say do this:
Day 1: Biceps, Triceps
Day 2: Rest
Day 3: Chest, Sholders
Day 4: Rest
Day 5: Back, Abs
Day 6: Rest
Day 7: Legs, Forarms
Day 8: Rest
I AM NO EXPERT SO I WOULD CHECK THIS OUT 1ST BEFORE YOU DO IT IF YOU CHOOSE TO DO IT.

u wont overtrain because ur routine is the way it is. overtraining is a syndrome/state. u could workout 3 times per week and end up overtraining yourself. research the symptoms of overtraining and examine the situation again.
also, overtraining is not always soley caused by how your training. other causes include lack of rest and a ****ty diet.

Yeah thanks for the help ppl.....i am taking a two day rest right now. My arms were pretty sore yesterday. But i am not noticing any symptoms of over training. I juss really dont wanna over train..because i started working out last year..and before i had knowledge of weightlifting i over trained..and it seeme dlike my musles juss stopped growing for awhile...months later i wasent noticing any progres...and i took a couple weeks off of lifting juss recently and now that i have been lifting hard again i am noticing awsome gains. But i REALLY wanna avoid injuring myself and over training..so i need a good schedule....any suggestions?

As Antoine says, there is no such thing as overtraining, just underresting.

if your gona work each bodypart twice a week then dont go to failure. it results in soreness that u could do without.
