    training to be a firefighter

    yeah i want to join once im 18 which is august 2014.
    any ideas on what sort of training i should do???

    If I were in your exact situation I would focus on getting bigger and stronger for the next year, with a minimum of cardio (but likely do a bit)

    Then after that year increase the cardio, and still train to get stronger.

    Basicly use a beginner strength program until you stall out, then switch to an intermediate one. Once its time to up the cardio I would use Wendlers 531 and cardio would be sprinting hills/stairs, sled dragging (both walking, and dragging it sitting and tugging a rope), and sledge hammer swings. These are types of things that should prepare you for the physical test

    I have several friends who are/were trying to get on the fire squad out here.
