Are you trying to cut for a contest? Those calories look pretty low to me. I'll let someone more experienced answer though.

I am trying to lose about 2 % bf, not for a contest just for myself. What calories would you suggest?

    A little low

    Hi There,

I am also a little lady like you- (5'-5'1", 108-110 and 13.8% BF) and that seems a little low caloriewise. The carbs aren't too bad, but the calories seem that they can't sustain your activity level- you will burn muscle not fat.

I just finished training for a show and at the end, I had no energy or brainpower b.c the calories and carbs were so low. I was on 30g of carbs for about 2 weeks, then 25g, then nothing for 2 days. I have heard that if you carb depleat to do it slowly so your body can adjust.

It is tough b/c being small, we have to minimalize everything, but under 1200c seems too low for your activity level, size and just to function. You don't want to lose that hard-earned muscle.

Also, keep in mind that if you diet down and get really, really low, you will have to maintain to keep it. That means low cals/ carbs all the time, which can get tough. If you don't maintain and you start to go up in weight and BF%, then you may sink into a depression b/c you cannot be that small all the time. Contest competitors are not that tight all the time b.c it is unhealthy and tough on the body- Just something to think about...

Hope that helps a little. Look at what others say and make a decision that works best for you and your body.

    Good Luck!

For cutting, I generally like to keep the same caloric range and cycle the carbs more. When that stall, tinker with the calories and/or cardio.

You might give it a two week trail and see how it does you. At least you will have info on it to go by to make necessary tweaks.

SO you mean keep my calorie range the same and then just up or cut carbs?

I have been for the past 2 months doing a CKD diet and have made considerable loss with that. I have stalled out with it and wanted to try a 2 carb up day cycle. On the CKD I was eating 3 days no carb, 2 low (50-65 g) and then 1 day I carbed up and increased calories by about 800. Calories wise I was eating about 1080-1250 during the 6 days and around 1800 on the carb up day.

Dude, don't ever, ever go below 1200 calories, that is just ridiculous. Maybe if you were doing a contest, which was being supervised by somebody with credentials, but unless you are really short, have no muscle, and are coma tose, never eat so little!!

I'd say you might want to try staying at at least 1600 calories, but cycle those carbs, if you plan to carb cycle. Keep in mind, on a carb up day, you're supposed to be having a ton of carbs, so don't just eat more protein and more fat, eh?? I did that, it was stupid. I'd also try to cycle it so that you were doing lifting on a carb up day.

I understand you are petite, but I really don't think you should go so low in calories, ever.

Make sure the cals you are eating are coming from healthy, unprocessed sources. That might help, if you aren't doing it, now.
