    First competition? on tanning

I'm African American, and I know I will still need to use a tanning product like Dream Tan. I wonder if that will be enough, because my tan is uneven. Should I lay out to tan my "untan" areas, or will the tanning cream make me look even?

How dark is your skin? I would go for pro-tan and 30min before you go on-stages use dreamtan2 it will make you shine and nice dark :-)

    Hope you can use this???!?

Take care & Happy New Year

My friends that are African American that compete will usually tan a couple of times before hand. Then they use maybe 2 coats of a tanning product...like Protan or Jan Tana or Dream Tan. That seems to do the trick. Even though they have dark skin, the tanning does deepen their color and that may help everything look more even

Tanning makes your body hold water... What I do is to use One protan and then use dreamtan for the rest and I do not do tanning before a contest and still look like one who have been in the sun for 14days or more :-)

Really? Tanning makes your body hold water? Where do you get that information from? Tell us more.

Actually it does the opposite It thins your skin...sometimes I will wear Prep H into the tanner and when you get out you have all these little beads of sweat where you applied it. Getting burned may make you hold water but all of the pros tan consistently before shows because it does help with subcutaneous water.

Maybe we are just a little behinde her in Denmark, because here no-one do tanning thoese last 3weeks... But then again when you use protan & dreamtan you can't see that you have been in the sun...

I will look into it... (I know that a man like Jay C do some tanning before contest... so...?)

I think Aviva Labs has the best and darkest sunless tan for competition. I found this description on their website. Hope this helps. Good luck!

    "ATLAS™ Instant Competition Bronzer
    Elite Bodybuilder & Fitness Models
Get ready for eye-popping, bigger-than-life, “Are you kidding me!” color. ATLAS™ Tan takes your appearance to the next level, delivering bigger muscles, better definition, higher scores from judges, more applause from the audience, and envy from your competitors. You’ve worked hard, now make sure the judges can see and appreciate all of your effort. Our proprietary, deep rich mahogany color has been carefully tuned for bright stage lights. Plus, ATLAS™ Tan comes from Aviva Labs, and our focus on health means no unhealthy ingredients or overpowering smells as with other competition tanners—just an oil-free, alcohol-free non-drying formula that isn’t sticky and doesn’t clog pores. Simply spray it on as dark as you want for the ultimate performance color."
