    Olympic lifts

I was wondering what weight you guys put up when it comes to the olymic lifts. I've just started doing overhead squats, power cleans and snatches and need to set some realistic goals for myself. Also, what set/rep range do you use?

Of course, pretty much all O-lifts should be done in the 3-5 rep range. Same for sets.

As a 165 lb 16 year old, I'm glad to say that I can power clean 235 and snatch 140x3.

In case you havent, you neeeed to get your form down on these. When I first started cleaning about 2 1/2 years ago, my max was maybe 95, and just from being new to lifting, I got my max up to 135 in just a couple months, then was (nearly)plateaued for a year, as my max only went up about 20 lbs in that period. I got on this website to learn good form, and my max has been going up ever since.

I still don't "dip under" the bar(into a full squat) whenever I power clean, but I am still trying to learn to do that.

Thats impressive. I'm the same as you when it comes to dipping under the bar. My front squat and overhead squat aren't strong enough yet to allow me to benefit from dropping into a full squat position.

My PR is 185 on PC. Snatch was like 100, thats the heaviest I've gone because I was trying to squat down below parallel to catch it...I can't front squat at the moment due to it causing wrist pain, and I haven't tried OH Squat yet.
Don't think about how weak you are ... think of how strong you're going to be.

cross your arms and hold the bar (think i dream of genie when she does the head nod), that'll keep it off your wrists like in the powerclean position.

That's hard on the shoulders if you are doing heavy weight.

If you want to try something, try this:

I learned this in track when I was a hammer thrower... one arm dumbbell snatch.

Start bent over/hunched over with the dumbbell in your hand, hanging between your legs. Like the snatch, in one movement, explode up, thrust the hips out and get that dumbbell over your head in one movement and keeping the arm straight.

You don't need to squat down underneth it. You can just try to catch it lower.
