Neighborhood/Town bars, why go there?

I have a group of friends who enjoy these types of bars. My question is, why? They say cheap beer...but that can't be all.

These are the same guys that complain that they never see girls out...yet they won't take a 15 minute drive to the heart of the city where they are all over.

Is it really "cool" to go to bars where everybody knows your name these days? I certainly don't think so...though I could be wrong...

i cant legally get into bars but just think of it like this, youre chillin at a buddys house with a efw friends just gettin sloshed, or you go to a party and do it.

Both are cool.. wanna chill with a few buddies and drink? Go to a small bar. Want to party? Go downtown to a busy club. Not really a tough decision.

It shouldn't be a tough decision....but these people go to the local bars every night....

personally, i go through phases ...

i went through a club phase, where i didnt even touch a drink ever and just wanted to go out to clubs and do whatever ...

then i went through the phase of going to the local pub where me and whoever i went with, were usually the only ones in there. We did this to stay away from the crowds ... also the bartenders appreciate the business and give lots of buybacks (free drinks)

currently im back ni the club phase, but now i also drink when i go to clubs. which is rediculous because the avg price of a drink is $10

Yeah, drink prices suck!

That's the major + about house parties.. BYOB or keggers. Pay $5 and drink from a keg, or throw $5 on a case with your buddies and you're set for the night.

The other plus is there usually isn't loud, horrible music so loud you have to shout into the ear of the person next to you. The local bars are nice because you can just go there, chill out, no fights, and sit with your buds and talk about whatever. I'm over the dumb hos at clubs and the few times I want to go out I want to have a relaxing atmosphere.

If you weren't drinking foo foo drinks then you wouldn't be paying $10 a pop.

Strange you say that....I find that there are more fights at local bars than downtown bars....because there is no security in the locals

Local bars/pubs are cool. Just go with a few friends and drink and BS while watching the baseball/football/hockey game.

That's what the TV at my house is for....add 2 cases of beer for 4 guys...and you pretty much get drunk off of 6 dollars, you're with your friends, etc.

What about your local American Legion/VFW kinds of places? Good times had by all in these smoke-filled little hole-in-the-wall joints. Every once in a while you gotta stop in - nothing beats $1 tap beer, people watching, ripping some pull tabs, listening to a ****ty band or drunken locals singin' karaoke!
Little local bars are the best.
