Unstiff muscles when flexed? Any ideas why?

Hi, I've been lifting for about a year and I'm wondering if there's some genetics (or others) that play into my muscles not being as stiff/hard as others when flexed. For example, my brother who does almost no lifting has a bicep which feels to be harder than mine. Clearly I do have better shape, form, and strength, but the kind of hardness he has can only be obtained directly after my workout.
Could it be that I'm not eatting right? Or that I should be using higher reps to concentrate on the muscles more?
Thanks in advance for all your thoughts.

If anything, I would say, lower reps and higher weight would give more density. That and flexing hard between sets or working on peak contraction with isolation work. You basically want to squeeze the density into the muscle through hard contraction.

I was thinking the exact opposite. Lower weight, and higher reps, but I'll try that.

I would agree. The other day I saw so many younger people just throwing around weights with no proper form and or contraction. When I returned to the gym 2 years ago I did not care how weak I looked with low weight. I made sure I could concentrate on the muscle working, contracting it, and pushing it to its limits. Needless to say discipline and proper form pay off
