Tightness in the lower back from rack pulls

I started doing some rack pulls and after the exercise, my lower back tightens up really bad. There isn't any pain, but there is some discomfort in that area.

Do you guys also get this tightening of the lower back muscles?

I am doing the exercise correctly and my back is straight, which may even have a slight arch just to keep my back from hunching.

Rack pulls are meant to hit the lower to mid back. So you should get a pump/tightness in your lower back.

Rack pulls are a low back exercise.

What were you expecting to feel?

Be sure you are properly warming up your body by stretching. You don't want to risk getting injured. Also, don't start off too heavy; work your way up.

if it is that full, pumped, cramping kind of feeling in the muscles don't worry. Honestly when I do deads followed by T-bar rows I can't even stand up straight because it is so tight/pumped.

what you do want to watch out for is sharp pains, and pains that linger or pains other than that tight pumped feeling when your working out.

It's probably the same thing I get after a couple sets of weighted hyperextensions before my deads. After those, I can barely stand up to put the plates back on the tree. Not to mention during each negative of the hypers, it feels like the spinal erectors are being pulled end from end.

make sure you stretch your back properly. not before workouts but after workouts. a really good stretch is to hold a pole or something and pull.
