hey, i made this video because it was early in the morning and i was bored. yeah, i know it is more technique than strength, but for people who dont know that it looks really dramatic.
(i flip off the cam at the end because a bunch of my buds said i couldnt do it)
anyways if you are bored, enjoy.

i have interest in both, so i will try both. i'm not going to make an official decision before i enter an official contest, chances are i will powerlift because it always seemst there is a "family" involved with teams and such. whereas bodybuilding is the most selfish sport ever. cant eat with you.. cant go out with you... yada yada yada. so i want to see how everything pans out.
next goals - two phone books and or rolling up a frying panKEEP EATING!!!

Well, let's compare the strenght between a successful, competing bodybuilder vs that of an powerlifter...
Which one will be stronger
That said, most bodybuilders don't know sh*t about training correctly, bb magazines have made a lot of people ignorant!!!
Edit; Only powerlifting, olympic lifting, strongman and other forms of STRENGHT training (for athletes ect) are worth doing...

Johnnie Jackson? Ronnie Coleman? You're telling me that they have non-functional muscle? Get real. The question is, which do you want? Do you want to be a fatass squatting 1000 or would you rather only squat 700, but be in great shape? You're pretty f*ckin strong either way, IMO.

Andy Fielder competed at Mr.Minnesota a year or two ago, if i remember correctly.

If you truly want to develop your body and your choosing between bodybuilding and powerlifting, powerlifting IS the best choice. hell actually a mesh of powerlifting/weightlifting/strongman would be better, odd object lifting is lots of fun too and is very tough on your body in a lot of ways barbells and dumbells just aren't!
power ALL the way!'Prior to the Department of Education, there was no illiteracy'

*smacks head at obviousness*
howabout i do powerlifting and eat super clean lol. the only thing that shy's me away is that at my age i dont have resources (car/job/money) to get all the stuff like bands and chains and whatnot. unless that is only used at higher levels to tweak training.KEEP EATING!!!

Goju is right on the money...!
Like I said before bodybuilding ruined weightlifting, saying other wise is being ignorant. Just look at the crap in bodybuilding magazines...
And yes, most bodybuilders are weak as sh*t!!!
Training only to become bigger, I don't see the use in that. I like functional muscles, that have a carryover in everyday life or sports, Bodybuilding is just about getting bigger, a bodybuilder doesn't seek strenght only mass!!! What's the use of that mass, it has no real use...
Take a look at navy seals and marines, gymnasts, powerlifters, strongman, strength athletes. What do bodybuiders do with their musles, they just look strong. See where I'm going with this.
They train for non functional muscles, and compared to the people who do the above the are weak...
I say it again bodybuilding ruined weightliftin, the only smart bodybuilders train l9ike powerlifters and diet like bodybuilders
And hell no, bodybuilding isn't powerlifting!!!

I''ll give you an example of what I mean, a buddy of mine does the bb magazine garbage. I always trained more for strenght (the mass I got is from simply eating more) and explosiveness. He weighs a bit more than me and he does look a bit more "pretty" if you compare our physique.
But when we do a sport, like wrestling and rugby I own him, with rugby I took him down so hard he couldn't walk normal for three days, I can just blow him away. Why??? Cause he didn't focus as much on his legs as he should've done. Cause your power comes mostly from your legs. He wanted to be more symmetrical (not getting huge legs compared to upperbody), and the punishment he got from me was the consequence. I always told hom to focus more on strenght and explosive power...Last edited by TheCore; 06-25-2006 at 06:33 PM.

Bodybuilding doesn't have a good carryover to real life and sports. Put a powerlifter into a strongman competition versus a bb, the powerlifter will win for sure!!!
If you want to do bicep curls after bicep curl go ahead, I''ll keep wasting my time on the compounds, get some real strenght and explosive power

yes, that is actually the best way to train if your lifting, somebody's sig on this forum says it best, train like a powerlifter eat like a bodybuilder.
their training information sucks and is just plain boring, but I will say bodybuilders do very well when it comes to nutrition, just eat a good heaping of healthy protein/carbs/fats a LOT, and lift heavy and you should do very well. the WAY in which you lift can be subjective to you, but the above formula for nutrition and general training is what works!'Prior to the Department of Education, there was no illiteracy'
