How soon should I take Protein after workout...

I worked out my back pretty hard today, but wasn't able to consume any protein (ISS Micellar Matrix) until about 30 minutes after workout. I also ate a sub sandwich on top of it. I typically will take my protein immediately after. Maybe its psychological but I feel like I waited to long to consume any protein. Any thoughts? Am I just being paranoid? By the way I'm 35, if that matters.

At 35 you should know better than to worry about something as unimportant as this.
You also need carbs after working out, they are as important as protein if not more.

I don't think so. You have no idea what you're talking about. A long time ago I used to drink protein shakes with 55g carb from oats. Now I get 55g carbs from bananas. Ever since then I gained 30 pounds of muscle because of this alone, and that was in just 3 weeks. So take it back because people aren't going to gain muscle because of your cockamayme schemes.

After browsing the nutrition forum I realize the error of my ways. PWO you can't have any carbs besides dextrose and maltodextrin, otherwise they won't work. Any other time of the day your carbs must have a GI of 3 or less. Otherwise you'll get diabetes and die.
    I don't know either lol

i read somewhere, maybe it was one testosterone nation, but you should take your protein and carbs 30 mins to 1 hour after your workout to get the best results. not sure if its necessarily true, just what i read.

I think its best as soon as possible, but as long as you keep it under 60 minutes you should be okay. Agreed on protein and carbs, preferably simple carbs, fruit is my preference.

    Easy

    Eat before
    Eat after

It's as simple as that. Make sure you get plenty of carbs and protein.

Thumbs up Anything within a hour

Let me give you a real answer. You weren't asking about simple and complex carbs you were asking about protein. Take it within a hour of your workout. If you have a pre workout meal, or just use lunch, workout an hour after you eat. Besides, any buffoon knows that protein after lifting weights is more important than carbs! Carbs are for energy, thus you take them before your workout. It can be helpful to take maybe 10g afterwards but if you have a 55g carb shake afterwards you'll just find yourself getting fat. Now, the WHOLE point of PROTEIN is repairing muscle. So I think the average moron would know that protein is more importanr afterwards.

Thank you Doctor Bro Science. I'm sure OP is still thinking about this after 10 years.

I was quite humored to see this thread. Seeing what people were worried about back then and some of the replies. Then I got to the present day post by the necromancer and became angry.

I've since taken my anger out on some reputation and feel better. Not really, but whatevs. Only thing people need to read in this thread is the posts by W8isGr8.
