Ladies, need help
I have a sister on synthroid that the doctor prescribed her awhile back for her thyroid problem.
She sleeps alot and put on alot of weight. She went from slim to thick (not really obese or anything serious like that).
She goes to the gym and is changing her diet to get results. She has worked with a trainer (not saying much though, lol).
She is still getting used to it since she used to be able to eat anything and never even think of working out and would stay slim.
I myself, am pretty experienced with workout programs and diets...for men. I also know alot about ectomorph training and diet since I am one, and she is now more endomorph.
I can get her training down and work with her when I have time but I need some diet help for her.
She needs about 1500 calories a day according to her trainer. I say that is about right. What about ratios? Do women need 1 gram of protein per lb? what about carbs and fat? I would assume its similar to men but I could be wrong.
She does the workouts, but she wants me to stay on her at home so she sticks to her diet. I know I can't make her, and I told her this, but I can work on her diet when I get a baseline set for her.
Any help appreciated.
BTW, I chose to do this since I would like to get into personal training for a living in the future and I know not everyone is like me.

I don't reply to PM's for sources. Read it again. I don't reply to PM's for sources. But I will forward it to a Mod.

Synthroid messes with the thyroid so her body will adapt to the oral dosage and she will gain weight. I'm not a physician, but I think the best way to take such a drug is to pyramid it daily to keep the body off guard, that way she will be able to manage her weight better.
If she wants to lose weight she needs to get a bodyfat test done and do the math from that. Can you get her stats?

Ya, the synthroid hasn't shown much improvement and that doesn't really suprise me as you say, she just adapts to the dosage and the doctor won't prescribe anything remotely dangerous (a.k.a. anything that gives real results).
I will verify her height and weight and see if her trainer took her bf% (I know they SHOULD have).
thanks

Interdum modo elabitur...
synthroid
I have been on synthroid for 9 months. I didn't really notice any influence on my weight, but I also work out hard in the GYM. I started with 0.050 mg and now I am on 0.075. Do you think synthroid influences negatively one's weight/fat loss?

I don't know how long it take's to make an impact on thyroid production, however if I was taking it I'd rotate my dosage 0.050 mg and 0.075 daily to keep from getting adapted. Just to be on the safe side ya know.....

Thanks, MsFit! I am struggling with very low metabolism and thought synthroid is actually helping.
