We all paid December and January rent but they are going home and I'm staying in the apt
They are saying only I should pay for the electricity and they shouldn't.
Do u think this is fair cuz I didn't expect them to leave and didn't have this planned in my budget.
Same thing for summer when they are gone for 3 months. They will still pay rent just not electric and say I should pay.
I just wasn't prepared for this since they hadn't told
Me before hand

Nope, I'd tell them I'm leaving now to and going to be staying at a friends entire break, looks like we will be splitting it. Would tell them i'll be gone for most of summer too except 1 or 2 days a month and you will pay an additional $3/month for those 2 days/mo you'll be there. they cant prove you were there or weren't.

Fk why didn't I think of this?
But what if the dude comes to the apt and checks if I'm there.
Also, If I do tell them this then they will be like why is the electric bill so high if u aren't living there? Whay will my excuse be then?
They will be like the bill should be only $5 if u aren't living there but since u are its $40 wouldn't that be proof that I was living there

Electricity bill still racks up even if noone uses the house. If all of you left, you'd still be charged decent amount of electricity for things like the fridge and water heater.
Figure out the base rate, and tell them they'd still have to pay that. That's the best compromise. Otherwise just tell them **** off and pay their evenly share.
How to find base price?
Say if 3 people lived in the house:
y + 3x = $80, where y is the base price and x is price per person.
but when you live on your own: y + 1x = $50
->2x = 30, x = 15, y=35.
So tell them they all still have to evenly share the base rate of $35, and then you can just cover for your personal usage.I'm 21 not 48, where do I change my age?

They should absolutely share the cost with you. That's their problem for not using the apartment during that time.
Where do you live OP? Is there delivery fees for hydro service?
So what, if OP wasn't home, they would disconnect the hydro for that time?
This.
They want to go home, its their problem.how can she neg... HOW CAN SHE NEG!!! HOW?!

I
Don't know bro if there's delivery fee
Idk if they will disconnect it or not cuz the fridge is still running and the heat is part electric and needs to be at 50" at least but they may u never know
But ya I'll stand my ground and not pay
Let's see what happens and what they do
I technically don't even have to pay any fkin rent cuz I just live here and haven't signed the lease with them lmao
I could
Literally rat out to the landlord and get them evicted for letting me live with them
But I still have paid them rent cuz I'm nice and like to be fair and not a dik

why have your own place to live if you go home to mom and dad for months at a time? It shouldnt be that much more than what you would normally pay monthly. Just make a conscious effort to conserve electricity while they are gone. Flip some breakers if you have to or unplug some stuff

seems fair
a series of short tasks over a relatively longer period of time is life. altruistic light moves under the cover of your own darkness.. find this inner torch bearer and accompany them to the end. we all walk together, but we all walk alone. there is no understanding or purpose beyond that

Idk
It's prolly
More expensive still at their own place
They are only here for college so whenever it's weekend or break they go home
I'm surprised they aren't making me
Pay for weekends lmao
Also I bought a heater cuz it's been cold in the apt and was gonna use it this month
They are gonna be so pissed and wonder why the electricity bill just went up by a $100
And then they will
Make me pay for it
Although I prolly shouldn't use it when they are gone cuz then it'll be obvs I use it
But I'll hide the heater and use it in my room
If I decide to use it and will leave them wondering why the electricity went up so high
I may not do this but it will be lolsy
I'm pretty sure I use the least electricity anyways
Like I said its $40 per month for a total of 3 right now

You'd need to first have the electricity bill of the month when its only you in the house to find the base rate.
For example, right now its $40 for the 3 of you. But if it becomes $30 for just you. The 2 equations are:
base + 3 x individual rate = 40
and
base + 1 x individual rate = 30
So if you subtract the 2 equations, we get that 2 x the individual rate is $10. So one individual's rate is $5. Once we have that, we know that:
base rate + $5 = $30, so base rate is $25. Hope that helps?I'm 21 not 48, where do I change my age?
