2006 Olympia - Who Fails to Make the Posedown?

With the list of Olympia contenders firming up, speculation can begin about who finishes where.

Let's assume: Ronnie and Jay are one and two. Heath is not competing and D James finished third at the NY Pro and is not a top six contender. Lee is jumping to the PDI.

That leaves five credible contenders fighting for spots 3,4,5,6: Branch, Gustavo, Dex, Gunter, Vic.

Who fails to make the top six?

I would say Gunter if all the mentioned are in shape. In my subjective opinion, if all are in 'equal' shape his symmetry & aesthetics would hold him back. But if he has peaked and one or more of the others are not, he could easily make the top 6.

His 2 straight Arnold victories aside, he's been top 10 since 99, made the pose down in 2002(4th), 2003(3rd), 2004(4th) against the same field of guys, who besides Jay and Ron, arguably haven't changed all that much.

Thats a pretty consistant track record.

Is Vic overrated because Coleman endorsed/annointed Vic as his successor? I know after I heard Ronnie say this I subconsciously thought more highly of Vic.

Yeah, I'm thinking Vic will be the one thats knocked out of the posedown. Considering he only made it last year anyway, and just barely.

I'm going to go out on a whim and say 'guts'tavo. By winning the SanFran his confidence/arrogance will be swelling so I sense a rude awakening coming his way if he doesn't work as hard as he could.

Are any of these five competing any time before the Olympia, do you guys know? I know Branch did a couple late shows in 2005.

Dexter's a great model, but onstage I hope he gets owned by everyone. I saw a vid of him when he won the Arnold or whatever and I felt for him, the guy was in tears, he truly cares about the sport. The only thing is...He's not a freak. The Olympia is about the biggest, the best and the BADDEST. Dex has no edge and that's why he'll place 7th.

PS, look out for Cormier, the guy's been trying real hard to avoid drama this year.

Gustavo... that gut is getting worse and worse. Branch is finally getting his conditioning down. Vic is hungry and has been getting better.. Gunter has been progressing, I think Gustavo has peaked and can only go downhill from here.
