For about six weeks, I've been trialling a new weight training/ body building program at my local gym with a qualified coach, (who is also a body builder and enters regular strong man comps). I have the aim of becoming lean, and am contemplating eventually competing in bikini comps. I've become a lot firmer and stronger, which I'm very happy about. My shoulders in particular are growing a lot quicker than my other muscles, and I'm not sure I like how broad I am getting. At the moment, I'm in the bulking stage but once I start cutting, will my shoulders "shrink"? My trainer tells me to trust him and that I won't end up looking masculine...but I need a second opinion. Thanks
My weekly workout:
Monday: HIIT 20 mins (am) Back/bis (pm)
Tues: Chest/tris
Weds: Legs
Thurs: Rest
Fri: Shoulders
Sat: HIIT 20mins
Sun: Rest

Lol at huge shoulders. Can you show us these monstrous muscles you've gained in 6 weeks? Unless you're juicing there's no rapid muscle growth in 6 weeks, or 6 months for the matter. Women can only gain about a pound (if that) of muscle per month, if you're gaining more rapidly that means you're eating too much and most of it will be fat. 100-200 cals above maintenance is best.

Sorry, "big" to me will not be "big" to the majority of BB.com users lol. They're bigger than what they were, which of course was going to happen. I just really want to know whether they'll keep growing, because my trainer is only going to keep increasing the weight I lift each week. I'm already broad as it is, and at nearly 6ft tall, I really do not want even broader shoulders! I'll post some pics now.

Of course size is comparative to everyone's own opinion to what they perceive, but have to agree with Cara, unless you have chemical or synthetic assistance it's unlikely any of those 'gains' will be solid muscle, even in that golden newbie window. 0.5-1lb muscle if your doing everything right, at a push maybe 1.5lb a month if your blessed by the genetic gods of lifting. Are you taking in to consideration the post-workout pump? Or the fact that your leaning out a little and your smaller waist is making your shoulders look nice and tapered as a result?

Shoulders win competitions (maybe not bikini as much...but you still need them)...just sayin.
Plus as mention, shoulders are hard to grow. I've been murdering mine for two years and they're still not gigantic...like I want them to be.Coming out of "retirement"...Meg is training for a Figure competition...again!!!

I came in expecting broad shoulders pic. I am disappointed. Shoulders take forever to grow. I doubt you got bigger in just 6wks. Took me 3yrs to get here and I still need more size.
Meg, you've got great shoulders already!
Also, here is shoulder porn for anyone else an affinity for those delts.
Thread is happy now.

Pics of herculean shoulders? At 5'11" and sub 150lbs you probably look kinda skinny to most people, doubt you have giant shoulders of death and destruction. If it's really worrisome to you then don't train shoulders as much and let other muscles catch up BUT undertraining shoulder could lead to injuries there so be careful.
Would give you a high five for successfully building nice shoulders but I'm afraid your monster delt of peace would hit me in the face and break my jaw. J/k don't worry so much OP.Current PRs:
Bench Press: 200x1
Deads: 315x1
Back Squats: 275x1

Oh my, my dream is to have delts like some of these ladies, wow! It takes years and years (and then more years and years) and that is of everything is done right. Definitely doesn't happen overnight and not by accident. My shoulders are naturally broad and they were like that even when I was skinny, but it is because of my bone structure. I have only added a little bit of muscle in that area in the years I have been training, would love more though. OP, muscle definitely isn't added easily or quickly, it could be muscle pump you're experiencing. But having bigger delts is a good thing anyway, I really think nicely developed delts help balance out a nice figure.
On a mini-cut, then onto maintenance mode for the summer.

My panties just flew off with all those delicious delts! My goodness! :O
Seriously though, I saw my delts start growing a bit three months in, but past that, they've remained stagnant in looks (though not strength). I'd love to epic swimming shoulders like this (wish I could tell you who this is—those lats and that chest are bangin'):

Okay, I'll bite. Here are my itty bitty (as of now) underdeveloped delts (I had stick arms before this!).
I had more swimming delt porn to show off to make up for this, but then that's all I'd post. Haha! XP
Would fall to the ground in from of her and say "carry me!" Srs dem some delicious lats.
Evin you have some wild traps of peace appearing nicely.
