What's the difference between a "glute ham raise" and "hyperextension" machine?

or can you do the same exercise on the same machine?

like do you need the little lump cushion looking thing to do it? like this http://asp.elitefts.com/qa/default.asp?qid=4100&tid=105

or can "glute ham raise" be done on a regular hyperextension machine like this http://backtrainer.com/Roman-Chair-H...ension-45.html

    thanks

I found some examples that will explain the difference better. In the first one you see the guy in red doing the movement on a glute ham machine.

IN the second one you see an old style hyper machine that would not allow you do the glute ham movement because of the narrowness of the machine padded area. IN other words it's to thin and not rounded to let you do the movement.

So the answer is yes you can do the movemnt on machines that are set up to let you do both of them.

If this does not help re post it in the exercise section and those guys can do it.

You can do both on a GHR bench, but not the hyper ext bench - the rounded pad on the GHR bench allows your knees to pivot up and down.
