    140 Curl Video

Here's a video of me curling first 130, then 140 and both with minimal backswing at all. I weight around 135-140 in this video at 5'4". The bar weights around 20 pounds, could be 15 though, but check the pics out for yourself and you tell me. My scale is off at home, so I am not sure about the bar, but I weigh myself at the gym and I am roughly 133, but I have gotten up to 135, and maybe 137-138 after eating alot in this vid. And I don't workout using this much weight except maybe for a last set or burnout, this vid is just for posterity and not my actual workout.

Haven't gotten injured from it yet. And like I said, this is not how I workout. When I do, I use slow controlled movements. I don't see where I rolled my shoulders at? My arms are pretty short also.

I'm new to this kind of stuff, but what does the belt do for you?

It helps support your lower back because of the pressure the weight puts on it. I use it sometimes when I curl and go up in weight, but it is not always needed. And no, I did not cheat. I cheat when I actually workout and control the negative, but that was not cheating at all. Cheating would be if I bent my back to the point where I would almost fall back.

    WTF!? *grabs head*
why??? please tell me why on this planet would you do a max curl??? risk tearing a bicep or other stupid injury for the sake of telling people you single curled 140lbs with horrid form??? surely you have more sense that that. you're small, work on improving the first three lifts in your sig, they should be the first things on your mind and your total lifting priority, get them flourishing and you will get bigger and stronger everywhere else.

    Thumbs up

Heh, i know it is fun to do a max curl, but for real don't do ti too often, great way to tear a bicep.

However, props, very few people can curl their body weight. And i must say i don't think your form was that bad at all. At that high of weight you have to readjust your body becuase the weight wants to pull you forward. Not very many people do curls with that weight so they probably do not understand that.

I say props, but don't continually do this or you will hurt your self.

Thankyou for the compliment. I wasn't even close to tearing my bicep as I have done this 3 times before for my last sets of barbell curls, but I just didn't have a chance to capture it on film, and someone asked about it so I put it up.

lol man dont be ignorant, you're never going to know its gonna happen until its too late, your bicep doesnt tell you "ooer i might tear soon you better stop" u could be feeling like gold and then RIP she goes and you wont be lifting for a year. Its a stupid lift and it has no reason to be done, EAT and do compounds. Set some better goals, work on getting a 300lb dead for now.

Read my first post again. This was just for posterity. I am already bulking and eating etc. I guess I was ignorant about tearing my bicep, but since I have done it before with little pains, this one was really no different.

fair enough, but like i said, instead of waking up and deciding to post a curl max on this forum, show us a vid of your 300lb deadlift, and again like i said, just coz theres no pain doesnt mean everything is a-ok. Ive spoke to a couple of guys who have torn their hamstring and they were running fine with no pain then it just happened in the blink of an eye with no signs, im sure you've seen it on sports on tv too.

I actually thought your form was good...during the second half of the video. Near the first part, you suddenly jerked your back for a second. It was basically a Power Curl into a normal Bicep Curl. I was impressed that someone at your size could clean a weight that much up, reps for that.

Okay, first of all it wasn't bad form. EVERYTIME somebody posts a curl video everybody says oh that was ****ty form. That was good form. For all those people that stand up strict and don't sway AT ALL, that is actually more dangerous than slightly swaying. And if you're using a heavy weight, then you will sway no matter what on a curl, because of the type of movement it is.

having said that, heavy bicep curls is kind of dumb, sorry, but it is.

Read my first post. I don't max with bicep curls often like I said, but I will use heavier weight for final sets when I do workout.

I'd really like to see that weight go through a full ROM. At the start of the video you;ve already got the arms bent. Do you let your arms hang straight down at the front?

    Thumbs down

Anyone who can tell you their one rep max for bicep curls is a boob.

    It's dangerous and pointless.

That was full ROM> I told the guy taking the video t oget it of me picking up the weight from the ground, but he didn't know when I would pick it up. I just bent down and curled it. No my arms were not bent, I started from picking up the bar and the bar was right against me when I started which I guess didn't show in the video. And any kind of max you do can be dangerous like squats or bench. And like I said, it is not the first time I have done this, so I have gotten used to this weight. There are actually curl competetions too if you didn't know.

Form was good. Excellent considering the amount of weight you were doing. Being able to curl your body weight is pretty damn impressive. Great job.

hey **** you dumbass! wear a belt supports your lower back and the way the guy curls is a good way to hurt it. think first ****er.

Even though I hate to agree with him, he does have a point. Usually when I get to a higher weight I use a belt, but it would of gotten in the way of my arms and ROM when I did this and the warm up weights, 90-110, didn't hurt my back so I felt I didn't really need one for this one.

I can try and get another video, but it would probably have to be either wednesday or Saturday because I don't want to do that again and then not be able to do my workout to my full potential. I told my friend holding the camera to shoot it all the way, but I took a few minutes psyching up, so he just shot. It was locked out though I asure you.
