Ok, my max deadlift is 405, which I hit a week ago. A couple of days ago I did 355x5, easily, and ripped a damn callous off completely.
Anyways, I want to try to pull 425 or 450 in the next few days while I'm still in deadlifting mode before I focus on my squat again (I'm doing pause squats as recovery work and to keep my squatting ability at least mediocre, although I'll do heavy front squats tomorrow or the day after).
The point is, for those of you who have torn a callous and didn't wait for it to completely heal, were there any truly negative consequences, or do you think I can just put tape over it or something and lift anyway? I doubt my grip strength will be a problem.
It's just that I don't know how long I can keep up my current frequency. I'm squatting or deadlifting PR's 5 days a week, basically, and realistically I can't keep this up for too long.
So, do you all think I'd be okay to tape it up and deadlift, or would further impeding the recovery process not be worth it?
