well he was in slightly better condition than you, however your overall symmetry, size, and muscularity were better so I think you should have won. Interestingly enough I got shafted at that same show 2 years ago, but that time it was reversed... they placed a really soft guy in front of me. I know it's tough but use it as motivation for your upcoming shows.

no i didnt .. no one did.. the promotor said it was at the judges discretion, and it was supposed to be a piss test, but how can you test for 7 years drug free, with a piss test, besides.. winne and test are water based steriods and will be out of your system in 3 days. Also get this, the promotor did the guys diet and about half of the competitors diets that competed. He also works out at the same gym the promotor owns.. this leaves a very bad taste in my mouth and makes me not want to compete in a natural show again, at least in the npc i know everyone is on stuff

The NGA is very hit or miss. If you get a good promotor like John Abraham at the peoria show you can have a very good show. He urine & polygraphed everyone and I also thought the judging was quite good... but if you have a bad one it can be really bad. The NPC isn't much better as far as politics go.
The drug testing REALLY pisses me off. You paid for a service that was not rendered. That is absolute bull**** and i'm going to see if there is no legal recourse. He has no right to call that show natural... makes me ashamed to be a pro in the NGA, makes all of us look bad.

I have received word through a source of mine that the reason drug testing was not performed was because the polygrapher couldn't show up at the last minute & $35 per person would not cover urine testing for each person (which is true). However, this is still unacceptable IMO. Something should have been done.

You should have won. Not even that close IMO. The other guy really is not a good poser either. Sucks, just persevere and use it as a motivator!

I'll play Devil's Advocate...
First, let me preface this with the phrase:
"I know nothing about judging bodybuilding"
Now onto the Devil's Advocate Part...
The shorter guy has more mass. His thighs are larger, his arms "look" bigger, his lats are bigger, his upper back (rhomboid region) is much larger looking.
It may simply be that because he is shorter than you, all of his muscles look bigger...but overall, he seems to have more mass in every muscle group.
Another thing...on the rear pictures, you have an elongated looking neck, while his traps hid his neck well. Overall, I would consider you to be lanky, and him to be "thick".
Maybe he had more oil on his back. His upper back and lats really dominate next to yours.
I am sorry if my comments hurt, but you did ask...
Pound for pound, I think it is much harder for the taller guy to win these competitions. Shorter people wear their muscles a little thicker...
EDIT:
After looking at the double Bicep image again, I can see that you have more back muscle especially in the middle/lower area. Your lats could be larger, but his look larger because of his frame. He simply looks more massive, and that is likely why he won.

I misread what he wrote.
When he said he was the guy on the left in the Navy trunks...I assumed that the black trunks that the guy on the left was wearing, were not black, but in fact Navy. Depending on lighting, I have troubles distinguishing between black and Navy.
I also did not notice how he contradicted the color of his trunks with that of the other guy. After re-reading it, it clearly states that the winner had black trunks. After looking at that picture, it was clear to me that what I thought was Navy, was in fact black, and what I thought was Royal Blue was in fact Navy blue.
My mistake...
And now for the record...you were robbed. You should have won that competition. I misread what you wrote when you said that you were on the left.

Bro it wasn't even close. As soon as I saw you backstage I was confident you were going to walk away with your pro card. No one had your muscle thickness, and your conditioning was not too ****ing shabby, you had veins in the middle of your back when you did your back lat spread in the prep room.. no joke.. The only thing I can fathom as to why you were marked off was because of some of the loose skin on your lower abs because you dropped so much weight so quick--but personally I think it is much more likely that the promotor doing the diet of that guy and about half of the competitors diets that competed, had a ****ing lot to do with it.
Be confident in the fact that you got absolutely shafted, trust me, I was ther e in the front row watching during pre-judging. Y-o-u g-o-t s-h-a-f-t-e-d.
Honestly when they called you out as second during the night show I wasn't surpised I just had that feeling that the whole thing was sorta off, I thought you were going to put someone through a wall though you were pretty pissed once you got off stage and you got out of there in a hurry.

I looked at the pics before reading your post to see who was who, but I saw that clearly the guy in the navy one. But like someone said, try to use this as motivation (easier said than done eh??)! Nice work!!

I'd like my $35.00 dollars back. I'd be a bitch about it but I'm depleted and dehydrated so I'm lacking the energy.

Guy in the navy trunks should of won it easily, and it is blatantly obvious that the other guy won because of politics and not because he had the better physique. Even his coloring was off...like give me a break.

1) you got hosed. Your size and symmettry should have won it for you. That said, at natural shows, it is almost always about conditioning. I agree...use ti to fuel the fire for the next one.
2) That is why I like the NANBF. Everyone polys...you cant get on stage without it. Also, at a minimum, everyone who places has to urine test too. Most shows make everyone urine test.
I have heard various things about testing in the NGA...and I have no idea what to believe.

Not all winners are urine tested in the NANBF. Urine is always collected but not all is sent to the lab to be tested. I think they use it as more of a deterrent to scare the cheaters away. Big shows like Des Moines, KC, etc I would imagine send all or at least the class winners' urine away. Council Bluffs, however which is a rather small show with lack of funds, only sends the overall winner and anyone who may look suspicious. Basically, it all comes down to the promoter and funds. That said, NANBF is a great organization and I'm confident they do a pretty good job of keeping the shows natural

That is interesting. I wonder if the administrators of the NANBF(I know several of them personally) are cool with that? I ask because traditionally the NANBF has been very strict with the testing. I may contact a couple of people and see what they have to say. I would not be suprised of the Bluffs show did operate under that policy though. Its a small show and of all of the shows I have been to, it seems to be the one that struggles the most with promotion and competitor turn-out. That said, I think there is great potential there. Omaha is a big town and there has to be a bunch of quality competitors there. If Des Moines can draw 100+, then Omaha should be able to do the same, especially considering the timeline and proximity to the KC show.

Bluffs is getting much better now. A lot more time and money being put into the promotion of it. They had Fliers out 2 months ago already w/ a sweet pic of Joe Quinlan on it and the hot figure champ. They also host it at a new venue---Iowa Western Community College's Performing Arts Theatre. It is a really nice place, much nicer than Hoyt Sherman which isn't too shabby itself. They have taken my urine every year but pretty sure it has not been sent to the lab even though I was a class winner. I actually used to work for the promoter and mailed the overall winners urine to the Rowlettes in KC personally a few years back. I am still pretty confident in the testing procedures the NANBF uses and will continue to compete in their organization. Later-Brian
